Walking dogs..

Tried to teach my boy Walter that cats are the enemy!! This feline terrorist was caught clawing at my Norton seat a few weeks back and has shredded every bit of leather in the house! I’d (discretely) dispose of the wife’s cat without a second thought if I thought I could get away with it!

Unfortunately, these deadliest of enemies are inseparable:rolleyes:!

Matching coat as well ! . :)

I carry a billy and mace because of folks letting big aggressive dogs run loose. I will kill them if they attack mine and have warned more than one about it.... My little pups are always leashed when out for exercise. If I'm bitten they'll be shot by me.
I'm visiting the Corn islands Nicaragua and will be finding a good stick tomorrow and today bought a sharp knife too . A tourist girl I met on the beach has a nasty bite from one bugger and I get snarls and barkings on my night fishing walks here too .Day behavior and night are 2 different things .

Any dog which is threatening your well being needs putting down immediately, if the owner cared about it he would keep it up within their control. I love dogs but lots of them have no training on behavior.

Just wrong - I know:rolleyes:!

Gonna have to have a word with ‘she of higher authority‘!

Walking dogs..

Goodbye Nugget.
I had to put my buddy down yesterday. Very sad but it was time -
severe arthritis, loosing control of bowels and confusion.
15 1/2 years so I can’t ask for more than that . What’s more he was very healthy for nearly 14 of those years . 13 good seasons of bird hunting. Always said there are only two things wrong with
dogs - 1. You get too attached to them.
2. They don’t live long enough.
Regarding number two I have to be grateful-15+ years is above average.

R.I.P. boy .

Condolences, very sad, he looked like a lovely dog. Spaniels have lovely faces.

Our cocker had to be put to sleep a couple of months ago, she had a stroke / fit which left her partially paralysed. She was just short of 13.

Two ways to stop that - the way of us Americans do it that the rest of the world hates, or the way shown on Bondi Vet where you glue on blunt caps over the claws.

It's really funny to watch them with caps for the first time - they stop the problem without removing the claws.

Is this actually real? Jeez

Yes, massive selection on Amazon!

Clipping a cat's claws only makes them resharpen them. These prevent all that!
Gotta wonder why would anyone clip a cat's claws
I've had many cats over the years I've never cut their claws
It's a strange world we live in

Funnily enough we used to cut our cats claws when he got old as they grew to be too long and he was to old and tired to scratch a tree or something to keep them down to size. I just used a large sized ( human ) nail clipper, easy to do just have the cat sitting in the crook of your arm and away to go. Cat was about 20 yrs when I started clipping, he died at 23 yrs of age.

Saying about dogs and arthritis - for information and from personal experience as a dog owner.

There is a drug out there for arthritis called " Librella " - a wonder drug !!

The drug provides a monoclonal antibody that interupts the pain signals in the nerve, awesome stuff for although the dog will have well worn joints it generally doesn't feel the arthritic pain.

Saved my two Labradors from being put to sleep this last year and a bit :)

Knowledge is power ..........

Can we take Librella? It would really help my right thumb and save me having a trapeziectomy some time.

I used to have cats and I taught them from kittens to use the scratching post and that it was painful to use anything else. If not taught, they can do serious damage to people and possessions in short order.

My cats were 100% indoors. I also had visiting neighbor cats that were 100% outdoors and they needed their killing and gutting equipment. They visited every day for some human affection and the mother (it was a mother and daughter) usually left me mouse entrails to show she was doing her job. The daughter was amazing at killing and eating birds - she was amazing to watch but I wish she had preferred mice.

For the first 15 years I lived in this house there was an 18-pound neighbor cat that loved to come visit. His owners put a bell on him because they didn't like him bringing "presents" to them. I suppose they never figured out how he got rid of that bell!

Before you get that thumb fixed - read what they do - to me a stupid "fix".

There is a lot of research on Cartledge replacement going on now and while still surgical, Mayo Clinic is repairing rather than replacing hips and knees under FDA scrutiny. I'm trying to hold out for that for my knee and hoping they expand to thumbs - my right thumb is a mess.

I wish steroids weren't bad for you. When I get a steroid shot in my foot, my thumb and all other arthritis quits hurting for 2-3 days. Pediatrists will give steroid shots much more often that orthopedic surgeons in my experience. I used to get a shot in my thumb every 6 weeks but since it only lasted a few days I quit that.

A recent study by the Smithsonian Institution and the US Fish and Wildlife Service estimated that domestic cats kill about 2.4 billion birds and 12.3 billion small mammals each year in the lower forty-eight states

Cats get one pass around my bird feeders. After that......
Why do cat owners shirk their responsibilities and let their feline pets roam freely....would they allow their dog to do the same?...my retrievers/labs are never allowed to do so and 99% of dog owners I know follow suit.

I’ve got arthritis in my right thumb which is slowly getting worse. I had 2 steroid injections. The first one was a treat, sorted me out for more than 12 months. The second one did nowt, when I talked to the surgeon he said it meant no more would work and if it got a lot worse it meant an operation only.
