Winter is almost upon us and this is the last week for me. No rain til next friday.

Like.

Bring the ultralight fishing rod and some worms. That's always what I do. And a credit card because you did' :| nt quite work out the worms . Have a blast.

Yeah man Mike we all can relate to leaps of road faith on a Commando so go make some lasting holiday memories and bring em back to share the highs.

I always have my swag rolled up at the ready and my soft saddle bags packed with some camping gear and some food, who needs change of clothes, nothing better having the swag rolled out (instant bed) a camp fire and sleeping under the stars beside your Norton, have done this so many time with no plans where I am going, theres always a nice creek somewhere to camp by and water for the billy.

Have fun wish I was going with you.

Ditto see my photo always ready.
Ashley are you heading out to lakeside raceway this week end.
There will be a lot of historic bikes including Manx and commando Norton's, will be well worth it.

Yes tomorrow it has been over 30 years since the classic bikes have been running, I only live 20 minets away from Lakeside and have run around that track on my Norton when I was a young lad, they use to have open days and only cost $20 all day but that was a long time ago, many years ago they were going to build housing estate on it but the GOV at the time hertiage listed it and it was closed for a very long time, its a very tight track and many have been killed on it over the years it was running.

So head right on south down to the LOP rally the end of next week. Give you a good place to go. Jim

Might see you there Ashley look for a blue 850 norton.
In a time long long ago I belonged to the "Motorcycle Sportsman" club (perhaps I shouldn't say I'm a club member in Queensland) and we ran many meets there and at the Surface Paradise track, but alas that track is just a memory. I still remember running shell 100 racing fuel with a drop of nitro in those days (when you could) It made for interesting racing.

Vacation started today. My circle from home keeps getting further away as the bike and I bond. Went about 80 miles. Back roads and farms. Nothing fell off and made it home.
The bike runs great. Wish the tank was bigger though. Gotta start looking for a steel tank and get rid of the glass one. Tired of draining it after every ride.

If you make it to Atlantic City NJ give me a call. Beach weather is almost done with now. Time for Striper fishing..

How come you haven't got your Norton packed up, 80 miles isn't that far, be out on it for the whole week of riding and camping, the Norton will do it easy.

Ashley

Sounds like Mike is experiencing the "ever expanding circles of confidence " that hopefully are part of owning and adjusting to a forty year old ride.
I can relate :)

Glen

Yes I can understand that as building up confidence with your Norton, I have owned mine for 39 years now and have full confidence with the reliablity of my Norton as well as my workmanship of keeping up with maintenance, the only time I had to trailer my Norton home in 39 years was when it lost a rear chain joining link this year, but that was my own fault by not putting the right spacer behind my new inner primary case and the joining link got caught on the sliding seal

Anyways enjoy your time with your Norton and build up on your confidence and getting to know your bike, the more you ride it the better it gets.

Ashley

heck lets be honest - 80 miles is probably more than 80% of the posters on this forum have covered this year
