Turn Signal Warning Light Question

This may be a hugely stupid question but I am not beyound asking stupid questions. I am installing turn signals on my 1974 850 Commando. I have everything worked out except the warning light. The wiring diagram shows the warning light with both the right hand and left hand wiring passing into and out of the bulb fixture. How does this complete the circuit without passing current through bulbs on the opposite side and lighting that side? (These or non LED lamps by the way.)

Turn Signal Warning Light Question

Because the standard (2W) warning lamp doesn't pass sufficient current to light the incandescent* bulbs on the non-flashing side.

* The warning lamp would have to be wired differently for LED bulbs.

Thanks. I am not using the high beam indicator lamp so I can just use that as a 2nd warning lamp.

Two diodes strategically placed solves the problem when using LED's. Use the search function ..... it has been addressed before.

I just wanted to throw a set of turn signals on the ol girl while I was waiting on my paperwork to make its way back from the DMV. I know no one sees them but it makes me feel like I signaled my intentions and no one knows what a hand turn signal is anymore.

I put beepers on all my bikes that have indicators. Not having grown up with the electrical blinkies, I tend to
leave them on. Easy to do, cheap and mostly effective.

I had the Motogadget one but changed to the Kisan Signalminder, only because it has the advantage of pausing the countdown while the brake light is on. Saves cancelling and re-signalling at long traffic lights (have to do this with the Mo-Stop - the Motogadget one)
The Kisan also allows you to use indicators as running lights - half brightness though. I believe in "every little helps".
Cheers

PS: Sorry @Big_Jim59 for continuing the slight de-rail of the last couple of posts!;)

The OEM configuration is actually quite elegant IMO. The indicator wires between the right and left sides.

Agreed, and you can bet whoever thought of it is still chuckling at the thousands over time that have been confused :) It is simple and until LEDs were created there was nothing to complain about. If you really want to use an LED for that one indicator, it's more complicated but still not rocket science.

I like this idea except I would need something like a continuous horn blast for me to be able to hear it. I am that guy who is usually signaling for a perpetual left turn.

AFAIK, all the self-cancelling turn signal devices on market require negative earth setups.
I use Kisan Signal Minder on my modern Bonneville but just have to train the left thumb to toggle switch off on the Commando.

I was puzzled about the left hand turn. Then I saw your National Flag and realized what was what. For us here in RHD-land, a LH
turn is the safer of the two. What does this have to do with indicator beepies? Only that you are busier with a RH turn here...

The fancy ones do, but the Motogadget version is just a 2 wire device that doesn't use ground.
