If it seems to be sticking at the top then push the bottom together and work on the top. But keep in mind the more even you keep it the better.

I need it all but unfortunately one of the rod big ends let loose and weakened one of the case halves. Should be weldable but no part of this bottom end is damage free. Time to grab a bigger hammer.
