Triumph Thruxton Fairing fitted to Norton 961 - I want one (a lot)!

One of the Floridian members here was bemoaning the lack of interesting rides in Florida.
I enjoyed his comment regarding cornering.
" The only time I get to try cornering is on a Freeway entrance ramp" :)

Mmmmmmm! Bit ‘fugly’! Looks like the guy that mounted it got the brackets upside down. Blantant heresy to fit anything fugly to this beutiful machine!

After the initial rush of blood to my head when I first saw the Sergio fairing I am still very keen, but have a few reservations creeping in. Inevitable I suppose; it’s not exactly a bolt on OEM part. There’s overseas manufacture, and shipping (which was a little dubious for Sergio), not to mention the significant engineering involved in mounting it. I’m going to contact Sergio again and hope to get the details for the guy in Sydney who fitted his fairing and see if he retained the information required to replicate the mounting hardware. I’d also like to discuss the potential of cracking with him.

BritTwit is guilty of raising the other concern that I cannot seem to shake, with his ‘meat slicer’ analogy (thanks BritTwit  ). I would need to satisfy myself WRT the risk profile.

Looks bloody good from every angle though - oooooooh! I can feel the blood rushing again!

Mea culpa.

I didn't mean to upset you, just to cause a pause for thought.
Someone also pointed out that on the street, rarely if ever does one high side, which I think is probably true.
When I was racing I did on a few occasions, dismount this way, so the experiences are indelibly etched in my mind.

As an option to the alloy fairing, AirTech makes a multitude of different half fairings in fibreglass, some for the track, some for the street.
Maybe you could find one that is suitable for your purposes. Try the attached link.

I like the RICCR1S - Rickman CR cafe short fairing – street

Not upset mate, just better informed. Really had’nt given the safety element any thought and when I did I was’nt catastrophising, just weighing up the likelihood and the associated risk. Can’t ignore it; let’s face it motorcycling is a risky enough proposition.

The AirTech fairings look ok, but not really as appealing as the ‘meat slicer’ option! We shall see.

Thanks for your input, it is appreciated.

Steve.
