I had a dual output coil go bad on me recently. Went from a good starter to a dozen kicks and visually the spark quality had degraded to barely visible. All the charging and wiring is good. Being curious as to a comparison, I looked at Trisparks published test outputs on 3 types of single 6V coils - a Wat Yong, a PVL and the new Trispark. Well, I had a Wat Yong and a PVL on hand, so I fitted those and did the visual test by kicking over with the plugs laid on the head in a dark shed. Kind of hard to discern that either of those had a better spark than the other, but the bike started up from stone cold and idled OK.
So I ordered 2 new Trispark 6Vs and then repeated the visual test. Well, I can say they do put out a noticeably stronger spark. Then came the kick start, idle and run check. What was impressive how much better that was all round, in particular the improved throttle response. I prefer the original look of the two coils and am going to get the old dual checked to see what actually has gone bad with it.
