Tri spark timing again !

If you time at 750rpm then any variation in the internal components will mean any error is transferred to fully advanced ie 3500+rpm. Being wrong at 3500+ rpm is a lot more catastrophic than at 750 rpm.

Or more precisely… being wrong at 3500+ rpm may well be catastrophic.

Whereas…

Being wrong at 750rpm… YOU WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT !!

Nobody should be afraid of kick-backs. The ignition timing should be set to suit full advance for the fuel being used and everything else tuned to suit it. If you bounce a piston off compression with any motorcycle, you are likely to get a kickback. You are The Master - NOT the motorcycle. Even if you get the kick-back, you should be able to hold it - so don't be sloppy. If you go at it like a bull at a gate, you will get bitten.
I usually start my bike with the throttle closed - the idle setting is important. When you start kicking with a flooded motor, anything can happen. The motor should go over compression once to get fuel, and start next kick. Do it slowly. Don't kick the shit out of it.

I apologise. 150 rpm , OK. Roy. I'm not afraid of kickbacks, just the bother of replacing the sprag clutch !
