Been using TTO temp on twin and single bikes for years.
flashes current temp and last high temp.
so 369F on rear cylinder last outing.

Temperature gauges.

Maybe I should get one of these?
One for temp, oil pressure, oil temp, charging rate, how about a layshaft bearing warning, sumping indicator, water content in E10.... Would need an 850 to lug all the sensors around.
:)
Edit: Was bored. it's wet and windy, can't get out to play, as planned!
My current fit of sensors....zero....indicators....one....mechanical tacho....

Ignition on or off?, I look at the switch.

Is the total loss battery fully charged? I put it on the charger.

Selected gear? If the tacho reading does not compute, I press the lever and try another.

Temperature? Are my legs burning?

Steve... perhaps you sitonthe bike differently fromwhen you were younger and so notice hotframe, but whynot try plumbing in a small oil cooler... If the frame isburning your knees through leasthers etc then the oil is really hot..And might contribute to premature cam failure

I certainly do sit on it differently, I rest my ample waistline on the tank and move much less, and pick my feet up less.

Last time out, I used my shortest tank, which gives me more room but opens a flow path for hot air from the exhaust. I am looking at more shielding etc, and, maybe airflow directing.

I intend to relocate the filter because it is right behind the barrels and fills a space between the exhausts, but maybe if I plumb the oil back to the filter, then up to an oil cooler, then the frame, where it has to get to the lower rear tube to feed back to the inlet, I may need another litre of oil in it to make sure there is enough there to pick up! This last time out it had 3 litres in. Back in the day I was a 6 pint man! I have tried 3.5 litres without noticing a benefit on temperature, and then it tends to spit out of the breather and eventually fill catch bottles.

All that plumbing? Presumably a nightmare to drain the oil from. My guess is less heat dissipates from oil hose than frame rails! On the other hand my Yamaha single has an oil cooler at the front and oil tank up under the seat!
