Would someone from this forum in the UK be willing to spearhead a "batch buy" of front sprockets from TALON ? TALON said they did make these for Norton but need a quantity of 10 minimum to produce again. I am willing to buy 2 or even 3 if someone here can be the representative to TALON for this ? They will not want to ship overseas so you need to be UK based .

This is my email from TALON , very encouraging ! I hope we can make this happen , please help someone ...

Hi, for new manufacturing we would probably need a batch size of 10, I cannot quote you accurately until we are back to normal working, but probably around £16 per sprocket.

Kind regards

I have emailed HPS (Harwood Performance Source) , this is where I get my rear sprockets from . I have asked if they would be willing to compile the order list for us . Here's hoping.

Hi Guys,

Ollie has a lot of front sprockets in stock.
He has the biggest stock of parts and he supplies the most dealers.
I ask him for a camshaft /delivertime.
He answered "depent the time I need to go in to my stock"
>To everyone first call Ollie, he has the most in stock.
Thiel Motorsport have made also some redesigned parts.

Thank you for that , But when his supply goes away then we need TALON again. Where will he get the cams ? Is he making those too ?

I’ve sent an email & left a voice mail, see what happens when things get back to normal , I’ll order a batch of 10 & re sell at cost price plus postage , there is no fixed firm price for these front sprockets atm , I be purchasing the later one from 2010 onwards I believe & as it stands I’ve sold them already

I can't see the front sprocket on the Thiel website but I would be up for a spare front and rear sprocket.

I wonder why they want to make 10? When I contacted them in 2008 to make me a special 20 tooth front sprocket for a gen2 Hayabusa it was done within a week.

Hello Richard , There was a slight change in the counter shaft spline in 2013. This was found out during the Coote/CNW/John Snead sprocket manufacture. The sprocket which fits your 2016 bike will fit all of the 961's. 18 teeth is the stock size.

They will make more , just place an order for more ! 10 was the minimum for a sprocket they no longer manufacture . The Suzuki stuff they make boatloads of !

IIRC the gearbox is basically a HD Sportster box, is that correct?

If so, has anyone looked at Sportster sprockets?

Back in 2008 the gen2 Busa had a change of main shaft compared to the previous model and they didn’t do anything other than the stock 18t version. So they made a 20t based on the 18t stocker.

The HD Sporster front has almost 0 offset when they had chain sprockets , also not sure of the splines either . And the usual sizes start at 20 or 21 teeth in #530 chain size . Better to just get the Original form TALON UK for the Norton 961 in my view. I have done a small bit of looking into this,. And I would say the HD route is not the way to go. TALON will make them , we just need to buy , buy , buy ! Buy enough to last you for life . what would that be 4 or 5 sprockets ?

I thought it seemed too easy Tony !

The rear is easy , peasy . Just go to a TALON retailer and get a TALON BST Type 2 sprocket . I get mine from Harwood Performance Source ( good guys) . And 50T #525 rear is stock .

To veer off topic a bit, DUBYA didn't send my order of cush drive rubbers because they get them from Talon who is on a total lockdown. I would certainly purchase a front sprocket or two. Hopefully at the stock size.

I’m interested in a front and rear Talon Sprocket. I’m looking also for both the black rear and polished rear sprocket as well.
