What ever become of the guy who was promoting, on this forum, the tanks he was selling? Said he tested them with 150 psi. He was offering to send a tank or two to a couple of members for a tryout. I never saw a followup.

I think you're referring to Anil, he corresponded with me and did offer to send me and a fellow in OZ a sample with payment after acceptance that they were good. He later recanted and wanted payment up front, we both declined. I never saw the 150psi though. I'm trying to remember the name of his Indian establishment, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

Apparently the new Emgo tanks are fine for a little more than the Indian ones.

If you want to use ethanol in your gas, might as well spend the $ on the Emgo tank and forget sealers, etc.

150psi ? this guy must be *&^%@# joking, this amount of pressure will cause any tank to explode.

First time I tried fixing my Pakistani tank, I silver-soldered it, plugged it, filled it with water and pressurized it to make sure it didn't leak. I put maybe 10PSI in it and it pancaked out, about 5 inches wider at the bottom than sock. I worked on it for about a week, slowly pulling it back into shape. I thought I totally ruined it when I did this, but the tank came out pretty good - and it now holds 3 gallons!

Pressure testing should be done at no more than a couple PSI, and with the mounting studs installed and wired together to prevent what I did.

To be fair, he did amend that to 1.5 psi, was it. ?
But did seem a bit gungo-ho, more salesman than realist.

A couple of the tank vendors from India do seem to turn out a quality product.
Some chromed ES2 tanks here looked quite good, and no problems.

"Blowing" tanks with a few psi is how some folks have been caught cheating in proddy racing.
Gives the tank a litre or 2 more - and a more bulbous look, so it isn't half obvious. !
As Bill says, bolt them down, or they will 'butterfly' and spread their wings...

Quick update;

Started tearing down he head today and i'm glad i did. The valves are in bad shape and the combustion chamber has a thick residue in it that must from the fiberglass.

The pistons look ok to me. The brown color is just discoloration and not residue. However, your suggestions and thoughts would be appreciated.

I will post another picture of the valves tomorrow. Hopefully they can be cleaned and don't need to be replaced.

Something has interfered with full combustion in the clear crown areas, often seen form bad ring oil fouling combustion near bore, yet not nearly as clean as these look so don't really know unless from the resin pollution stifling combustion as well as gumming up the works. Rather educational to see and rather relieving it ain't mine. I'm kind of looking for a ruined fiber tank for my asshes.
