That would be great but I’m not sure the gain would warrant the significant outlay. My bike is running pretty well (currently) with just a minor hesitation around 3k, when moving slowly in that rev range, not when accelerating through.

I reckon $130 USD on a 17t sprocket is money better spent. Need to speak directly to CNW to order as they do not ship to Aus from their website.

I have a polished sprocket on my CR which will need replacing at some point (13k miles) so I'm thinking that as the back of the sprocket and inside the cutouts are difficult to clean get black and just polish up the outside.....

Hello Voodoo , I am running a polished 50T rear now . This was from Donington Norton and you correctly stated these had the anodizing polished off. I bought 2 of them at the time with 50T . These cost more than black because of polishing time of course. If you are willing to pay me what I have into it plus shipping I will ship it to you. Just PM me if you want it , and it will look better on your Domi than my sport for sure...

My chain was worn out before the sprocket did . I don't know how people are getting 20,000 miles on them ? Maybe with a Scotoiler ? Mine was gone in 16K miles .

Yep my Chain & front sprocket changed at 16k ,along with another rear sprocket previously replaced at 9k , also brake pads all round at 16k

Personally, my mechanical sympathy would urge me to raise, not lower, the gearing. And considering how you cherish your P&J… and the lack of spares availability currently… I’d personally urge a re think.

Lowering the gearing WILL give increased acceleration only IF you’re willing to use increased revs. The whole point is that you get more rpm, and consequently more power to the wheel, per mph.

Therefore, if you don’t use more rpm… you’ll go slower.

If you are happy to use more revs, it’s worth a try. If not, it’s not.

Happy with that input FE. As I mentioned above the additional wear and tear is a concern, although I have no doubt that I would use the increased revs. Don’t think there are any 17t left, so happy that I’ve bought it (although no sign of it yet) - it was now or never. I will decide when to use it; hadn’t really factored in the lack of other spares that may be required given the bike will be getting a harder time.

P&J? You’ve got me beat!
 
Well, despite my earlier protestations of doom, I guess the other way of looking at it is that it’s a 5 minute job to change sprockets, so if you’ve already ordered it, it’d be rude not to try it !

hi guys,
looks like my Commando 961 needs a rear sprocket plus chain replacement at around 13k miles (front sprocket was instead recently change with the 17 teeth made in CNW).
Now the question, if I look in the Regina chain catalogues (https://www.reginachain.net/busines...=it&s_brand=32&s_engine-size=961&s_year=2010-) suggestion is for a 525 chain, whilst on Talon catalogue (https://talon-eng.co.uk/product/rear-road-sprocket-norton/) 525 is the only Not available, while they have 520 as well as 530 available.
What I've to do? Who is on the right and who on the wrong?
 
thank you Stu but a bit too cryptic to me. That should be a DID 525 code, Regina has an equivalent too
But it seems Talon has no 525 rear sprocket available, while has both 520 and 530 (see link above)

Try HPS (Harwood Performance Source) in UK for the 525 50T Talon rear sprocket . Or, Stu at Motorvated or Thiel Motorsport .
