Small Italian bikes

Tasmania is the best place for old Italian singles (and me) .
Soon you can come and visit me Allan, might even have a spare small Italian for you to ride.

Is that an open offer Graeme?

Hi Dave, of course. Always enjoy riding with other old bike people.
Might be a while though, the building approval people are tough unless you want to park a dunga bus that's painted rainbow colours and smells of Petuli oil and have lots of ferrel kids.

Where do you live, Graeme? Sounds like great offer. If we could get a network going through this forum, we could visit each other even if we stayed in the local pubs. I'd really like to go bact to Evandale that town is so cute, especially when the pennyfarthing bike races are on, and also the road races at Longford. Are you near Baskerville ?

Allan, I'm in Brisneyland at the moment. Had a gut full of the traffic and people with no manners. (and the summers)
Been trying to build in Cygnet 50 ks south of Hobart for over a year now. (big shed, small house) 900 people and 1 cop all friendly country people.
Soon I hope we can start building so maybe another 12 months before we can accommodate friends.
Some good roads there and car drivers have manners.
Baskerville is an hour and a quarter north. It's a challenging track.
I'll have to get used to working in the shed during winter down there. Like our US friends do.
They have Targa Cygnet, smaller than Targa Tasmania, 3 pubs and an RSL club and great roads.

Thanks Graeme, I'd like to head North again for a decent ride. Maybe Autumn.
My first job as a grad engineer was doing antenna design in Lindisfarne, just out of Hobart. Rode my bike (XS400 way back then) all over Southern Tas and really enjoyed it.

Ok, I'll put my place on the "map" it's in Corinella, just across the water from PI - maybe 15 mins ride to the track. Plenty of other classic bike owners in this area and some truly wonderful roads to fang around in the adjacent hills. Any and all forum members welcome.

Plenty of other bikes, but I thought I'd keep it strictly Italian in the spirit of the thread. Does the V7 Cafe class as "small"?

Isn't Corinella on the eastern side of Western Port Bay in Victoria ? - long swim to Tasmania. I was hoping to go overseas, I've got a passport, and I can probably get a visa to work in the non-existent jobs in Tassie. I can drive to Corinella - boring !

I picked up a 1961 Aermacchi/ Harley Davidson Sprint 250 project a few months ago.

I can see the appeal of these little bikes. I've been slowly collecting the missing bits and will hopefully start in on it in the spring.

I picked up a really nice Benelli tank that will look great on my project.

If you rock up in a car of any kind Allan from somewhere "just up the road" you will be lucky to be offered more than a cuppa and a biscuit! Others, perhaps riding down from interstate for some PI racing, might want to seriously consider the offer of hospitality.
Are you intending to put your place on this Network Map or was it just an idea that might be good for other people to implement?

My name is Alan Cotterell, I live in Benalla 200Km NE of Melbourne. Yoou can always find me through Winton Motor Raceway. I am the secretary of the Winton Motorcycle Club which has reciprocal rights with Benalla Auto Club. If you visit I can always set up the folding bed in the family room if you want a sleep over for a couple of nights. Have a look at when the three day Austin 7 Historic meeting is to be held in May, and come up for a look. I'm in the Telstra White Pages phone directory on the web - always on for a chat if you like.

I love that aermacchi sprint basket case, you could make a superb café racer out of that which really looks the part. Apparently there are only a couple of bits in them which are in common with the racers which is unfortunate.
