As has been asked, WHAT engine parts are missing? This would make a major difference in complexity/cost.

Also, don't know if you've done vehicle restoration projects previously. If so, you know what to expect; if not, frankly, unless you are prepared to spend a lot more money than you think you will need to spend AND you are prepared for it to take much longer than you think it will, it's much more cost effective and efficient to buy a Commando that is currently in good, rideable condition rather that taking on a restoration project. Frankly, I know of more such projects that ended up not being finished at all and resold than ones that actually ended up with a "restored" vehicle. ;)

ALL it takes is time and money. Lots of time and lots of money!
Don't be discouraged Drummer, go for it!
It will possibly be the best motorcycle you'll ever own.

Hi Drummer ... I saw the seat and pipes on Kijiji , had checked his listing of the Commando then scrolled down to see if he had others .... 3 listings in total , the bike , the seat and the pipes ( which looked new) .... will take a look in moment and see if stuff still up ....

USD is much more valuable than our dollar ..... what is a fair price ? been many years since I got mine and it was running and inspected for the road .....

Anyone have any idea what might be a fair price I have been adding up whats missing and it's a lot Does anyone have a valve train for an 850 ? I offered him $5500.00 came back with $6000.00 I don't think I want to go that high?

I bought my MKIII for $4200US. It was complete non running bike assembled. I have under $2000 on the repairs, tires, and it will need paint. Bought it south of Buffalo, NY.

Tell him to make it run for $6000. no clue what the gearbox is like unless it runs.

The description with the 850 that sold for 8k us

"But when those two big jugs pull you around a corner on its featherbed frame it is like no other experience. That’s also what the Keihin CR’s are for. Raw, linear torque that comes on like a freight train. There is nothing else like it."

I like Commandos, but its 50 bhp, not 200!
Also, Featherbed frames are fine but the bike you are selling has a Commando frame! ( in some ways better)
