Rear sets

I should add that I have loaded panniers on when this occurs. Haven't tried for it without panniers.
The only reason I put the feet back there is to change position on a very long trip, hence the panniers.
How many people take these bikes on touring trips with loaded panniers, place feet on rear pegs then ride above 75 mph?
We might be getting down to a small number of bikes.

True. I've put a fair bit of time on my Commando at high speeds/feet on the rear pegs but I've never had panniers or even a tank bag on it, just me and, if necessary, a backpack.

I should mount some temporary pegs where the rear sets would go, put bags on, then give it a test.
The swingarm is nice and tight, I don't think it's causing the weave.

Makes sense...but if it was an inherent Commando issue, they should all do that... Seems to me it indicates something is not right suspension/tire/swingarm-wise

Yes, the cause is the change in the center of gravity. The root cause is something else. My Interstate does it too.

Loaded panniers with feet moved back from "normal" riding will change the cog as well as shifting your suspension set-up. May need to adjust the rear shocks?

We have to keep in mind that the bike was originally designed as a small tanked bike with the rider in a certain place and occasionally a passenger. Paging @frankdamp !

The Interstate was a total change to that design, the rider was moved back and a huge tank (weight) was added to the front. As long as you are sitting up it behaves normally but shifting the weight forward and lower somehow changes that.

Certainly in my case the bike is mostly original (old!) so it could just be a matter of too much wear or isolastics out of spec.

When I got my bike, it had a hirider tank and roadster or one-off custom hump seat and UK bars. I got it with a load of spares, which included rear sets. I found it handled much better with the rear sets.

Then I got sick of having to find gas every other minute, and got an Interstate tank so got an Interstate seat, and cut the nose of the hump seat. Mostly I rode it with the Interstate tank and hump. I found it handled great. Not quite my Duc, but very good.
