"Fully restored concourse restoration" looks like a custom to me. Very pretty.

Since there was no such thing as a '74 fastback, and it has a bunch of non-original parts, I don't see how the seller can call it "concours." It's basically a "bitsa." Certainly looks nicely done and perhaps it's worth the price to someone looking for exactly what it is. But it's a long way from a concours vehicle. Frankly, I don't care about numbers-matching, etc, at all but if you are advertising/implying it, which that ad seems to do, I'd call it misleading at best. (and to me, dramatically overpriced) ;)

That bike was sold on 17th November for just over £13,000.
Not bad if you can do nothing and make 7 grand in a month.
I agree, it's a custom bike not a concourse restoration. Still, I wouldn't mind it propping a wall up here :)

Not even registered in the UK, hopefully they managed the NOVA issues regarding its import from another country (Yes, it does include the EU now for NOVA purposes) It looks very much like a right mix of parts, MKIII frame? earlier gearbox cradle - it would have needed aligning, odd swingarm by the look of it as well. The reflectors on the tail section seem to spoil the overall look for me.

It is a lovely bike however seeing that front brake in it makes me want to retch. To call it concours is obscene. Little things such as the engraved points cover absolutely destroy it's credibility, what I don't like about it is that it is 'so near and yet so far'. I'd love to own it however I would not pay that for it. In all of these things, it depends on what you value - it looks like the Mona Lisa with a moustache to me.

But "it's the nicest bike you'll ever see".
'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. I think Garden Gate Manxes are beautiful. Also mint Velocette Thruxtons and 1963 Bonnevilles.

There's maybe $10K in non-stock parts in it . . . . . .

"It has the following extras and work done:
-All new and strong crank cases
-The head has been tuned by Mick Hemmings with big valves and polished rocker arms
-Cylinder has new pistons with cut away
-One piece Nourish crank
-Carrilo rods
-Vernier cam sprocket
-PW3 racing cam
-Cam shaft chain tensioner is automatic
-Belt drive
-All small parts are new as well including bearings, cam followers, oil pump, etc etc
-Reinforced Mick Hemmings 5-speed gearbox
-Upgraded front floating disc brake"

Exactly.
It was in Denmark last time ? (I brought a 57 TR6 head off the same seller)
There was also the 68 Commando that sold in Canada for around $3500 and three months later it was for sale in the UK for close to $10000.

The word restoration went out the window long ago,now a bike that runs just is regarded as restored (to running condition) by some folk.
The Commando in question is a stunning looking bike (imo) if there was a 961 Fastback in those colours it would have to be a seller surely.
I remember when first seeing that bike on eBay,thoughts of another set of fastback bodywork were immediate for my own 71.
Another reminder.

It needs a disc rear brake same style as the front.

But £10k in new parts /restoration costs rarely makes a £10k bike, unless it's a Brough

It would look great without the striping. It's just too busy. Nice to see the big mismatched side covers were discarded too. They always seemed like a poor attempt at proportionality?? Easily worth the $ paid for it.

If someone can't even speel 'Concours' then you know its all downhill from there....

Despite the issues, I'd buy it but not at what they are asking, or even half that amount. It's lash up even the wheels are different. Hopefully all the work they claim is receipted to support the add. Also, why build an engine to that spec using different bits from all over, Maney racing could have supplied all the bits needed to produce a nice engine, the airbox will last 50 miles of hard ride as the carb will smash a hole in it as well. It will need work to sort the faults and set it up correctly, if it produces the power that should be possible from that spec, then it would not take long for it to be thrown through a hedge with the mismatched tyres, but then I doubt the buyer will hardly use all it year round and if they do it will have to have been dry for at least the three previous days in the height of summer as well.

I mostly like this creation except that front fender does not conform to the tire curvature. Ruins the whole thing. :D

What is that between the footrest plate and the gearbox. The owner put a lot of time and bucks into this ,not for the purists but still a real nice bike .
