Great bike Frank. Just when I was thinking of changing the color of my Norton , you show me nothing beats basic black. hand me the binks spray gun. Frank just remember one thing. Some people don't like Tiger Woods, not because he's black, but because he's good. Ride safe.

Wrench - what a wanker. Raggin on Frank's sweet Commando won't make your junk bigger or functional.

Frank, the bike rocks. My tastes lean toward the Roadster, but your Interstate is beautiful. The first thing that came to mind was how well done the pics are and I also thought how cool it looked to have you in a photo. Well done my Basque friend (my Grandparents were Basque).

This may have been said before but Wrench does not represent either the average Norton owner or the average American Norton owner. Keep up the good work.

Considering what I am doing with my Combat Commando, I am afraid to post a picture of it when finished. LOL LOL Ride safe my friends, Chuck.

To Frank & Chuck, I posted this on Chuck's thread about his Commando, this did happen to me a couple of years ago and it was on my bike in the pics, if I could put it on the screen in the message I would but I don't know how so the links there.

An Owner with his own mind!!!!, Thank goodness for that!!!!! It is YOUR bike, you have it looking as you want, with upgraded bits and whatever!
I like Commandos in all shapes, at least on here there are people with open views, some like standard , some like changes whether it be upgraded parts or custom looks.
I have a '65 BSA A65 Lightning Clubman, it is nearly standard but with a few changes 'cos I like it that way!, however I was out on a run last year and stopped for a pint,
( orange officer honest!!!!), and was approached by a couple of gents who commented on the "'nice bike' but shouldn't it have etc. etc?".... no it shouldn't !!!!! I like it the way it is, and it is MINE! and I'll fit what I wish... not only that, but you could specify non cafe' racer parts for the L/C that would be fitted from factory. They wouldn't have that! When asked what they rode and where were their bikes?, it was the old " might rain and too cold" answer, well as I said , "sorry gents I'm riding mine, and if it gets wet it gets wet, and thanks to changes I made I am comfortable on it and I can ride it in the wet". If it was left the way it left the factory I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be running half as well , if at all! There are too many of these individuals who are quick to tell you your paint is the wrong shade of turkish pink, rivet counters by another name! Keeping your bike bog standard? not a problem, changing it about a bit?, not a problem. Bikes are an individual choice, that is why we ride! Good on you!, more power to your spanner arm and artistic imagination.
The bike has Mk1 Amals instead of Monoblocs, Alloy wheels with stainless spokes and raised bars instead of clip ons, it's a back thing! and heresy of all heresy's electronic ignition with Boyer powerbox!!!!
Is the bike yours? Do what you want to keep it going and comfortable!

I love this beesa,
didn't she was featured in Classic Bike some years ago?

Thanks Crazychester for your comments i will forward to my friend who took the pics. As a Basque that you still are you have to come one day to visit us in this beautiful country.
Funny thing i'm working for a company based in St Louis ( Elan Polo)
Best regards
Frank

Kaixo! Thank you for the invitation Frank. I would love to come visit my family roots in Basque country. As a cyclist, I even enjoy rooting for the boys on Euskaltel-Euskadi, although I have yet to pick up an orange jersey or helmet to show my Basque pride. A new cycling season is starting here in St. Louis so I'll have to pick up an orange jersey soon.

If your work for Elan Polo ever brings you to St. Louis, be sure to shoot me a PM or email and I'll buy you dinner and you can check out my '74 Commando.

On egin! Topa! Eskerriska!

Personally I have criminal clubman bars as my sin. For some reason kids seem to find non clip ons as offensive, and some folks have determined that a cafe racer only comes with one specification.
I was racing to cafes with my friends before most of these kids were thought of (it happened in New England too), and my friends and I ran what we had.
I think I'll run the old bear the way it has been set up for many years and just say to heck with the folks who are purists in thier own minds. Run what you have the way you want it! Thats what we did in the 60s too.

Nice bike Frank, this bike really has "style"

As a matter of interest, I've been asked to make a set "Interstate" headers to suit the MkIII.
This will use the low level Interstate Silencers.
I have the complete MkIII Silencer/footrest mounting plates and the complete pre MkIII Interstate mounting plates as well.
I going to see if I can make a plate that will marry the two together using as much of the stock MkIII components as possible.

Cheers,

Paul.

Presenting my own Commando

hi from Biarritz... its cold

Frank,

That bike looks superb in every aspect. I appreciate the amount of effort you put into your bike, the excellent photos, and your equally interesting and ever-changing blog, which I now have in my favorites file. That's all a lot of work. You may do these things mostly because you enjoy them, but I'm sure I can speak for many when I say we enjoy seeing what you are creating just as much.
