Think I’ll probably have to get a new custom tank pad made to that effect Clive.

And maybe the bike should be called ‘Captain England’... and my forum handle ‘Barnaby Wilde’ (that’s the bloke that Steppenwolf sings about innit)?!

Some closure on this thread guys, my bike is booked in to have Sports bars fitted (thanks Rob and Dave), was gonna do it myself but didn’t fancy interfering with the ABS (new brake hose required).

I still prefer the Cafe Racer, and will always look at others with envy, but my wrists just can’t hack it anymore.

So I ain’t selling after all, and the Harley will have to wait...

See? Good sense prevails in the end...!

The missus indoors has started giving me grief about the solo setup on my Cafe's so reluctantly I have given in (sigh).... bye bye CR, hello California!

PS: I do the swap next week but not everything is as it might appear ;)

What ?!?

The Thruxton has to go surely, he's too in love with his 961. If he's selling, best break it up, I will have the seat, fly screen and invisible indicators.

Well i have almost got 1000 miles on my harley ultra classic. I still love it. Loads of luggage space, super comfortable, incredible torque and it handles dare i say it quite well. It sounds good with the screaming eagle stage 1 kit on it.The perfect tourer. It eats the road up. I will ride it to California to see my friends in the spring. I dont ride with others much and dont really care for the harley crowd. I like it cause its a good bike.

My mk3 is in maintenance mode. I have to take the primary down and fix the sprag and do some very minor stuff. Got about 1200miles now. Only had an issue with trispark and sprag in that time. My 750 is just waiting for some Royal Purple oil and i cant wait to get out on it for a blat. Its weird weather here, one week its snowing and below freezing all week and this week sunny and perfect bike weather. Its very nice to have the option of a norton commando or harley depending on how bad my back hurts and what the weather is doing.

I am in the middle of sorting out my garage still since we moved here! Its been chaos moving, but glad we did it. I know i probably went off topic, but maybe not...

Cheers for now, ride safe

Drama Queen indeed!!!

I always had in mind selling the Thrux if the 961 lived up to being a reliable/enjoyable ride.... and it has surpassed this, and I have lots of plans for her! I am also in the middle of getting my old H-D restored and back on the road and so far I am ahead on that one so she will live once again in the Spring.... but she is also a single seater.

What I didn't anticipate, not in a million years, was my wife wanting to get back on the pillion.... I think me sneaking out on the 961 this Summer has prompted this.... so the Thrux has been part-ex'd for a California.... my first ever Guzzi and I pick her up next week!

Wise man not to try two up on the Thruxton.

While the Thruxton R is the best solo bike I've ever ridden , long tours included, it makes a lousy two up bike.

It's just physically too small for comfortable two up riding.

I was right, the Thruxton is off and some Italian moving in, nice. Ideal trip for you next year: https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2018/july/moto-guzzi-open-house-2018-

Had a spin on the 961 followed by my Guzzi V7 today. Also went for an Alfa for my next car

I like that bike ! ... I do prefer the Cali Custom even though outdated .... the bike above will serve you well for a long time .... enjoy !

Now then Gents, this is a tough one.

My Aniversary CR 961 (number 50) has been an absolute peach, I had my doubts as I know many have had issues, but mine has been as trouble free as a Honda!

And, it’s great fun to ride (for short distances).

But I have a couple of problems:

1. I have 3 bikes of the same genre as the 961 (uncomfortable cafe racers that are fun for short distances, and I can only ride one at a time.
2. I have limited shed space.
3. I have a yearning for something that will do more distance more comfortably as I wanna do more long distance touring.

Mulling it all over, I am seriously considering selling my 961.

So, don’t fall over if you see it appear in the for sale section soon...

Then again, don’t be surprised if I change my mind completely either...!
Get a bigger shed! If you sell the bike you know you will regret it!!!
