Police Commando?

Goof to hear you are ready to fire Seely! I've been plodding along looking at a bracket for weeks. I think I finally have a design I can live with, it just needs building.

Here is an Interpol tank I renovated to replace a Roadster tank and increase the range. Have since added a black cloth liner and found a tank bag that fits neatly into the tray. Took an interstate seat pan, moved the mounting ears backward and recovered.

Police Commando?

The tank was £30 off fleabay, silver is £15 of powder coating and the tranfers cost £35 including red/black lining.

Kommando how much fuel does this tank hold? I really think that paint job looks great. You said something about powder coating? That looks great if it is. Great job.

Not sure how much it holds but it is an Atlas tank so guessing at 3.5 imp. The powder coat is the same they give to alloy wheels and has a clearcoat included.

Thanks Kommando, Very nice tank. I just picked mine up Saturday at Fedex, Looks to hold much more than the Roadster tank. Thanks again, Gotta go me and the wife are riding down the coast to the Orange County Vintage bike gathering. Have a great day, Chuck.

From the technical info pages:

Interpol fuel tank 4 imp. gallons
Interpol fuel tank (radio) 3 1/2 imp.gallons

What tank bag did you get to fit Kommando?

The brand is Moto Detail, no model name on it but I bought it in Stuttgart last year. Had a search on google and can't find it but it will be on a German site no doubt.

Berticus found the site, and 30 secs of looking and I found the right bag.

The magnets are on 4 swiveling pads, I had these set inwards and fixed them in position with some deft sewing (not by me  ), the tag to the front to go around the headstock was cut off too. No other mods were required, bag expands upwards too but not a large bag so I had soft panniers added for the trip to the IOM last august. I travelled with enough gear for a week B&B with a rucksack on my back as well.

A day bag really.

Hello everyone. I live in Regina Saskatchewan Canada and have restored or built an Interpol some years ago took about six years to get all the correct parts for it, some I eventualy had to make, the rear police stop sign for instance, went to England twice and came home with extra suitcases with interpol stuff packed tightly, the only thing I could not locate was the radio so it has an old bagged cell phone in the tank tray looks the real deal with the little antenna that flips up, will try and post photos if I can figure it out. Cheers. Coco finaly has his engine lookout!

Hello folks.
Just a reply to the question have you built one? Well yes I did quite a few years ago. I bought a pile of rust for cheap 1971 roadster and decided to put together something different, an Interpol sounded different so away I went, I already had an Interpol fairing so all I needed was the tank, funny seat, bags, and all the electrics , some stuff I faked but you cant tell hardly I'll confess later down the page.
Three trips to England Leeds actualy to a brit bike shop with tons of old commando spares and I ended up broke but with everything I needed even the dash panel with switches and lights, the radio was another story, try as I might no joy, but I had a very old cell phone in a black bag with the old telephone style reciever handle on it just like your regular issue phone at home and all in black, consatina chord the works and it fit perfectly in the tank box, theres the fake bit. Had it ready to go to the Lumby rally way back when so if you were there you probably saw it. It mostly sits in the shed as it's hard to ride it up and down the street with all the police lights and stuff on it I don't think the local constabulary would appreciate me dressed in black stopping good lookers in sports cars( now just a minute thats a thought). Anyway I will try post some photos when I find them. A story I was told about the police fairings and windshields from the shop owner in Leeds. They auctioned off all their Commandoes and spares including a stack of fairings and windshields, nobody wanted them so they loaded them all in a skip and crushed them and off to the dump, 30 fairings I was told if they only new. Cheers everybody have a great day.

Stuart :D

Just a few pics of the Interpol I built for the first Lumby rally, My son Allan helping clear out the shed for spring time . Cheers
