Perhaps carburetor requirements on a dirt bike are different from those for a road bike. In the 1980s, many MotoGP riders began their racing careers riding dirt bikes. I suggest dirt bike riders are more situationalist than systematic. They probably handle nasty motorcycles better. With road race motorcycles, smooth riding with fewer throttle changes are probably better. However a nasty motorcycle might force riders to ride on their reflexes.
With a road bike, we should not ride on our reflexes. My wife drives on her reflexes, she flies up the road and when cars in front of her are stopped at traffic lights she approaches them at maximum braking. She always manages to stop short of hitting them.
It is really funny. I used to take a beta blocker for a heart condition. She was driving fast around a tight twisty road. She asked 'don't you trust my driving'. I didn't realise that when the guard rail got inside my normal braking distance, I took a breath of air. I wasn't concerned about her driving. It is automatic - conditioned response ? The beta blocker stops that and I had not taken it. It is good when racing, you make fewer mistakes. Adrenalin causes time dilation, but can also cause cause over-reaction. When you ride faster, everything seems to happen slower, if you have a moment.
