Plan to install balanced pipes on my '73

Later, factory balanced pipes were similar. The theory is that the balance pipe would allow exhaust pulses from opposite cylinders help extract more volume from the next-door-neighbor cylinder. .

We still haven't seen balanced and unbalanced dyno charts on otherwise same bike,
to see that the torque is indeed there, as said.
You'd think they would have published something back then to prove what the marketing dept was spruiking... ?

It was also said that breathing each cylinder gases into 2 mufflers made things quieter,
and back then Nortons (and everyone) was chasing quieter decibels to meet some legal requirements...

So, the jury is still out on this one ?

In my experience the SS pipes with Dunstalls work best, followed by the balanced pipes, at least on my ancient Combat--the latter are worth one or two BHP and MPG. The SS setup seems to be less sensitive to tract length than any configuration I've tried.

Is this seat-of-the-pants hp, or dyno chart hp ?
And at what revs.

Its those compared torque curves we are all itching to see.
After 40+ years, still hasn't appeared....
