Just received an original Grenadier red side panel from 1969 the other day and I'm intrigued about the paint finish. Seems there is a thinned down top clear coat mixed with the Grenadier red over a silver flake undercoat, was this how this finish was achieved back then, David

Unfortunately there are no definite answers to questions of factory paint finishes, a lot of opinions but very little evidence. So if you have in your procession an authentic part that under close examination, shows to be undisturbed that is the only truth you will find.

Hi David,
I replied to your email directly, but just in case, will reply here as well. Send me a pic of the color as that way we are both looking at the same thing before we discuss process. Like British Racing Green, there seems to be many variations of this color, so best to have a similar staring point.
Regards,
Brent
