S/N would be the best way I think, and then listing pictures of both parts. My truck has that issue and only some of the parts are such. So the only way to order is by using the s/n.
Unfortunately, the bikes were not produced in strict serial number order; and, often it's is not known when a change was made by date or serial. Also, MK1/MK1A were made at the same time as were MKII/MKIIA.S/N would be the best way I think, and then listing pictures of both parts. My truck has that issue and only some of the parts are such. So the only way to order is by using the s/n.
Bummer!
Never had a clue it was that bad, I suppose warning people when they are ordering parts for those models might help.
1st time ordered from AN; ordered Mon 4/20 & received Mon 4/27. Great service, everything received.Whilst we would like to despatch within 24 hours this is currently impossible with our pickers hampered by our in-house rules regarding safety distances and the odd team member off in quarantine.
Add to it we are presently absolutely flooded with orders. Though the new ordering and shipment calculation system briefly accelerated shipping to the 24 hour target with the number of incoming orders and the safety precautions we are slower yet again, sorry!
In any case our primary target is not fast shipping but shipping a quality I want to fit to my own Nortons. No use to get a part very fast that then costs you no end of time to make it fit the bike or that is a total failure altogether, either not fitting or breaking quickly in use due to incorrect manufacture, say a casting where a forging was originally specified with good reason.
Over the last year I have ordered from A-N numerous times and have been very pleased with the prompt order-filling and quick shipment. I see no reason to go with any other vendor 90% of the time. The fact that they are still open and shipping shows their dedication to their customer base.
However, my last order was filled on March 19th and shipped on March 23. 2020. I sent a note after about a month requesting a tracking number as I had not received the shipment. The prompt reply I received was that there was no tracking number. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the order to arrive.
I am hopeful that the order is still in transit. With the current pandemic conditions my mail within the USA is erratic. So late shipments given international shipping is very understandable – short of workers and overworked conditions.
I still think A-N as my primary source – just not sure if I should re-order as riding season is here and I need the parts I ordered in mid-March.
I’ve got two orders from England (not from Andover or Norton parts) and it’s taken a long time. Seems to be hit or miss with a lot of miss.
We didn't put this note up heading our webshop for fun:
"We are also experiencing longer transit time to all areas."
That is, unfortunately, currently a common problem.
Amazon seems to no longer respect two-day shipping. Most things are coming slower. I was always amazed when I ordered something Sunday night and it was delivered Monday afternoon - that's gone.
