I really do not know why this is proving so difficult, or why you feel the need to add sarcastic undertones to every reply?

Mick Henmings was the authorised Quaife distributor.

Quaife did not / would not sell directly.

Mick has passed away.

Hence my question: do you know who now sells them retail since Micks passing?

It’s a simple question.

If you don’t know, just say so.
Think there was a five speed on the classified list of this site recently. 3k pound sterling.

EDIT:
TTI, new, unused.
TTi AMC/Norton gearbox for sale. Kickstart fitted.

That made me salivate a little. 👍
Yes too rich for my blood. But I've consoled myself with the fact I'm very happy with the stock 4 spd AMC GB ratios on my 850, for my riding style.

BTW, what do these things cost direct from retailer/maker?

I get by with my 4 speed as well, but I can see where 5 gears might be handy at times. Plus it probably shifts better than an AMC box when working properly.

Direct pricing is over $5KUS for a 5 speed delivered to Seattle, but I have not checked in a year or so and not since the worldwide inflation game started. Price is probably higher. One does really have to want one bad to cough up that kind of money. $3000 plus shipping is a good price if you have the trust to do it. I lack the trust gene, or I would have already inquired about it.

FE I think there is an important fact that isn't clear in your post, which may be adding to the ignorance of others.

Mick was not a reseller of Quaife built gearboxes. He built the gearboxes himself, to customer order, from parts supplied to him by Quaife and others (bearings etc).

For a significant period of his life, Mick's business was closed to casual customers on a Friday, because that is the day he spent in his workshop building gearboxes.

Quaife have not built Norton gearboxes themselves for decades, and possibly they never really did.

The only time I built a gearbox from scratch, in '75, I bought a 4 speed Manx 'cluster' direct from Quaife, 8 gears, nothing else, no shafts, no selectors, nothing.

I had to source everything else separately, mainly from a Norton dealer, and I built it myself.

No I’m not.

I’m genuinely surprised that’s all.

You put yourself out there as a knowledgeable Norton racing chap, yet did not put Mick’s passing and Quaife supply questions together.

My mistake was that I thought you knew what you were talking about and had something to add.

Your mistake was adding unnecessary and unhelpful sarcastic one liners to your replies.

And between us we ended up here.

Time to move on doncha think?
You shouldn't be surprised that Bernhard dosent know of Mick's involvement with building quaife boxes Eddie
I had to hit the un ignore button to read his drivel
At least I now know that there's a 5 speed close ratio troll still available!
