Oil tank question

Has anyone thought of running the tank across the bike, from original tank position across the battery box? Making the tank lower and thinner. The weight (even though not alot would be lower and centered on the bike. Not stock, but just something I have thought about.

sorry sold for just under $500 on Ebay.
Congrats! the market will dictate the price, I hope you got what you needed. I know fullauto's bit of ribbing was based on experience he likely had when bringing his heads to market.

well, I didnt insist on a Monza cap, to me it is the best option when building an alloy tank oil or fuel.
if the cap is centralized when the mounts are tightened the there is enough clearance.
dip stick? well i dont fit them to my fuel tanks,

thanks Ludwig, i'll keep in mind your manufacturing tips in mind on future tanks.

Cebu is my island

That is some nice looking alll U min ee num work. What styles of gas tanks have you made? I'm still trying to get a Prody racer / Dunstall (small type) one for my 850. Are you making tanks like these & any idea about a cost basis?

I dont know what you mean by small type. I'm working on this one, well, this is my sample I'm using.
it will come with roadster side covers and Commando gas cap.

Oil tank question

Very nice work madass140. I am truly amazed at a craftmans ability to turn flat alloy into a curvaseous tank!
I also like the idea of a dipper stick for oil level, could make provision for the small Harley type temp gauge and the sensor could act as the stick?
foxy

Reason I asked after your location , I was in Cebu, across at Moalboal for a week, six weeks ago.
Great alloy work!
Regards Mike

wonderin why you asked, I built a big 4 level house on the hills ovelooking Cebu City , came to retire but apparently I'm not quite ready to do nothing, amongst other things I was manufacturing Slimline frames back in Brisbane before I moved here.
you have a "friend " in Moalboal

No , did a breath hold diving course with an Austrain guy, spearfishing is my other passion. posted a couple of pics in another thread with speared fish.
Have a mate in Brisvegas, had his '74 Mk2A on the Sunny Coast for years, he is still in Brisbane, his bike now resides in New Zealand, getting ready for the north Island/AGM rally end of Jan.
Nice ally work, we do a lot of our own in my industry, based in Singapore.
What happened to the slimlines, any still around?
Regards Mike

I sold the manufacturing setup to some guys in brisbane who it seems never bothered to produce them, quite a shame, included was enough material, all plates, parts etc all laser cut to make about 50 Slimline frames.

I think you are on to a winner there Madass. So you might as well forget about retirement.
With the typical twelve month waiting lists at other ally part manufacturers there must be room for another company to slip into the market.
Good luck, looks nice.
Just hope those Injuns don't decide to start doing aluminium.

Madass n' Brooking , Cebu is one congested smoggy city so it's good to build up in hills overlooking the sprawl of gridlock and gentle people serving Christ. A good Expat group there for you.As of today over 850 dead just south of you in Mindanao island from torrential typhoon sudden storm. My buddy's wife and child there were spared. Drive 1 1/2 hrs. east by Jeepney for outrigger ferry to Malapasqua Is. to dive at night to sit on ocean floor and wait for dawn arrival of rare Thrasher sharks for daily cleaning stage. The Thrasher uses it's long whip like tail to stun fish. No shooting allowed here Brooking. Bring full tanks,no compressors.
