I posted an alternative way of clamping oil hoses a few years ago, Sep 13, 2017 the trouble with this method is the oil junction block has to be removed from the engine.

I really don't like the slotted worm drive clamps that are currently on my hoses and am looking for alternatives.

I'm aware of the "ear" clamps Mar 18, 2010
And the oetiker clamps

Has anyone got something better fitted to their bike?
Cheers

I prefer to use this kind now. They seem to be generally known as Injector hose clamps. You need to get the correct size for your hose, but they are much neater than Jubilee clips in my opinion.

The use of inappropriately sized jubilee type clips is one of my pet hates, and in fact one of my ‘barometers’ when looking at a bike. When I see shitty hose clamps I just think ‘WTF does the inside of the engine look like‘?!

I use those O clamps and ear clamps. I only use screw type jobs on things that might need removing frequently.

I have a deliberately blunt set of pincers to clamp them on, and a good quality set of long handled pincers to cut them off.

Jobs a good ‘un.

Have a look at Unex clamps, different take on screw clips. The pressure rating of these, considering they are the lightest of fittings, is huge
and they have a really good tightening action, almost 'boaconstricting' like. I much prefer to use these for almost all every day tasks, the thumb wheel type are fantastically handy, no rummaging around for a screwdriver and zero leakage because of the tightening action

As far as function, standard slotted/worm-drive hose clamps from the local auto parts store will hold any pressure that an engine oiling or cooling system can produce. Of course, they don't look quite as elegant as some other types of hose clamps! ;)

Not enough room to use a pretty expensive clamp in that location. Do what you gotta do. I use the fuel injection type cliff shows where I can but used the little worm clamps there because of the low clamp profile and difficulty of gettin any tool in that location other than a long screw driver. I don't use them on the inside of the engine. lol

Experience tells me everything on a Norton needs to be easy to remove, because no matter how superior somebody thinks they are mechanically they'll be doing some form of R&R on every fitting eventually unless building a show bike that does not get ridden.

Forgot to mention my gearbox is closer to the engine than it is on a Commando. If I had more room I'd use -AN hardware and PTFE line. Over and out

I have, since renovation, modified/streamlined this configuration a bit. I will eventually install the Minovation junction block that can be acquired with AN receivers but for now this setup is easy to access and leak free. I have used AN fittings at some of the other oil line connection and have since modified/installed a different AN fitting and breather pipe at the PCV outlet labeled in the last photo.
I changed it out to make room for the electric starter motor setup I got from CnW.

Constant pressure clamps are the best. I like oeitker clamps, but they certainly are not easy to remove.

I would take issue with your observation as to CP clamps being "the best".
There are a plethora of offerings/configurations available, depends on the application IMHO.

Yep, there are a plethora of offerings/configurations that are adquate

Suction....
And very low pressure scavenge oil pressure back to tank.
Are you shitting me here?
This is one thing on a CDO that needs no improvement.

I didn't mean nor say adequate .
One specific clamp or clamping method only is not "the best" for all usage, aka right tool for the job.

I thought everything on a Commando needed improvement. I forgot to take my delusional pills this morning though. ;)

True that the pressure is insignificant on those two hoses unless somebody puts a cork in the return pipe inside the oil tank. Then there would be some pressure.

In over 46 years have never had a problem with worm type hose clamps, when I was working I had a big free supply of worm hose clamps and have a big collection of them in my workshop, if I pull a hose off at any time and the old clamp is looking a bit old I just replace it, I have no problems using them if they hold the oil lines in place, but have never had one fail yet.
