oil dripping out of top of primary

Have her about a year now still learning about her I’m a vintage jap man but love this yoke
Good on you man...you have come to the right place... alot of guys/girls on here not only have owned these bikes for a considerable amount of time but many have engineering/industry/development experience which helps cut to the chase..
Did you get any receipts with the bike .

Got loads of paperwork, she was restored in 2021,It had bottom and topend rebuild and every nut and bolt was replaced and every rubber, only 5k miles from new, was only 500 miles on rebuild when I got it, valve stem seal went on her and I got the topend rebuilt again by good mechanic used top class parts so the whole bike is spot on now just at brakes and the primary seal, will need to torque the head soon , the list of parts on the bike is huge I will upload pics
There is zero corrosion on bike she came from Canada , the mechanic I use did mention the crank is little out said some vibes at certain revs, everything works as it should to me and I don’t feel the vibe, I ride her at 70 to 80 mph most of the time without issue she does 120 mile rides at ease , isolastics all done the bike is very close to perfect as far as I can see, no turn signals but I don’t mind they didn’t come with them in Canada, as for crank I’m not worried can’t bring myself to tear her apart, the list is endless to what was done to her chrome is mint wheels are mint , I will try to improve her with hidden upgrades as I go, I have original Amal’s but she came with vm34 carb and electronic ignition, starts first time hot of cold, sorry for long txt

Very nice example you got there.👍
I got my 850 from Alberta 🇨🇦 in 86 with the original tyres and indicators still on her...
A re sleave of original master cylinder or a 13mm brembo MC with a braided brake line will make a big difference for your front brake
Any gearbox work done ?

Well folks Primary chain tightened up them little nuts a and c were a bastard to get at but got there in the end thanks to all of ye for the help and guidance I’m waiting on oring seal now then that’s another job out of the way, brakes next and new drive chain thanks again ye are all a sound bunch

few pics folks
Is it just me or do the sealing surfaces between the primary outer and inner look chewed up? Head, can you send some better photos with the current seal removed and the mating surfaces cleaned up?

WELL BUDDY ITS JUST SEALER FROM PREVIOUS OWNER, i have just got the primary chain tensioned and will be cleaning the surfaces later, i will keep you posted on result, i am being told not to use anything just the oring and correct torque for center bolt

well folks an update here, i fitted the new seal on the primary and it works perfectly with correct torque on center bolt , used red ATF fluid and also tensioned the primary chain all is working great only rode a couple miles so far in a week, but i got no leaks and sheis shifting through the gears smooth, thanks folks

Recheck the primary chain tension after that short ride. If the same as you had it adjusted, you are ok. When first trying to do this right, I found the chain would always tend to tighten up after a ride. It is a little tricky to keep the gearbox from getting cocked.
Nice bike. Good luck with it.
