Norton 961 shift linkage broke

Until absolutely verified, I’m still guessing that that price is for more than a single sprocket. Motorcyclists aren’t stupid, everyone faced with that price tag would instantly know they’re being ripped off.

I've emailed Talon to place an order for another ten for stock. They've done this before with stock, run down to bugger all.

Yes Norton use Shopify , but you have to call or email them , clear all the parts you need first and then they send you an invoice with a pay now button. It's not like picking a part from a list and adding to your basket to pay.
Correct @TonyA ; it's only to power the transaction.

The only thing I can think is that Norton may have been faced with a large MOQ for the 50T rear sprockets . I feel like crying because I was able to buy a 50T Talon rear sprocket for 33lb from HPS some time ago. I wonder what the MOQ is for TALON sprockets a thousand ? They should go to a belt drive like Harley has , I wish they would.
Nope, I've just ordered and paid for 10. Lead time of 4-6wks, so hopefully I dont suddenly need a few.
Belt drive is for mopeds and invalid carriages....chain drive is for motorcycles 🤣

How do you expect them to pay off that high debt and overhead they have?

1) they’re not selling hardly any motorcycles
2) nobody is interested in a over priced 13 year old bike.
3) they refuse to sell outside the UK
4) I hate to say it, but I’ll bet Garner is laughing.

Ah Negatron my friend, thou dost follow a predictable path!

1) How many 961’s has Norton sold? Roughly, by your calculation?
2) How are you measuring ‘nobody’s interest‘ and is your Negatron-o-meter’ calibrated?
3) Are Norton ‘refusing‘ to sell overseas or gauging interest, whilst aiming to expand as part of a wider plan?
4) Garner - who? Is he laughing because Norton are trying to do it within the bounds of the law?

To be fair mate you were pretty adamant that Norton had no intention of ever selling motorbikes and pretty certain that Norton would never sell us spares! That puts you at 100% wrong on your Negatron-o-meter’ so far. (Wildly negative) Speculation may not be your forte - you should avoid the stock market!

The path for a start-up in the Uber-competitive world of motorcycle manufacture is no doubt fraught with challenges. Let’s hope that Norton can succeed. We do, don’t we? Hope that they succeed?

Love’n’hugs

Optimus.

OK good news , but would they sell to me in USA and would I have to buy qty. 10 ?

Yeah, I get it - but you can’t really call the a “start up” can you?
I reckon so mate - just think of all the f$%&g awefull press/reputation that Norton got when they crashed from the Garner debacle! Most of the battle is public opinion and reputation! Can money fix that? If anything, they have started from 50m behind the start line!

The assumption/expectation/wish/forecast that failure is imminent is not only f@#$^g depressing, but very probably inaccurate - and that’s from an enthusiast forum!

I’ve been drinking red wine so I’ll leave it there. Happy to labelled unrealistically optimistic  👍

If they won't, I hear there's a very nice bloke in the UK who has been working tirelessly for nearly three years now, in supporting the Donington 961 owners even when the Norton factory slammed the door in his and their faces....you could try him 🤷🏻‍♂️👀

OMG ! That's horribly too high ! You can get up to 48T from HPS in UK for a fraction of that , probably less than 50 pounds . However , the 50T remains difficult to get as of late . I hope TALON continue to supply the 50T rear sprocket , please keep us posted.
Ahhh, but this is probably a "genuine" Norton part, so it's premium priced of course.
Says genuine Norton part on the sticker glued to the sprocket, no?:p

So this is an odd one.
On Friday a package showed up with the linkage, from Norton UK. I havent recieved an invoice yet or any confirmation that they were sending it, but it arrived QUICKLY. It has different linkage ends so I'm glad a member is repairing mine!
Check it out.

Does it look like much work to adapt that linkage? Just some hardware or more like drilling/tapping?

So it came with the rose joints too? That’s good.

That should bolt straight on shouldn’t it?
Well, thats the catch, the joints on the original shift linkage on my 2016 are different. See below
