I'm sure 126125 is a typo. I believe I read somewhere #1 is sitting in a museum.

I have 126715 sitting here. #590 off the line.

I would be interested in seeing a list of the early ones still in existence.

I have a lower number , maybe we should get a list together ?!

Let's do it but take your number and add how much you paid for it to that number..... heh. Actually it would be cool to see how many are around and what shape they're in.
had it for a long time,

heres a shot( put an orange seat on it lately)

where did you buy the orange seat?
Do you have any pics with the orange seat on the bike?

That's a very nice looking FB in fairly original kilts, according to the 69 brochure they came in red, green and silver.

I made a collection of all the S model numbers I could since 2010 and came up with a list of 24 on this forum that were most likely originally S models out of maybe 3000, and most likely I missed a lot? It looks like there were 5000 or so of the early FB models, 126125 to 131256 and the next one was the S with the camshaft points, but undoubtedly there were some FB made after the S models came out? This is all my speculation.

I'd love to have a 71 FB, I just like the peashooter look better. Piero is or has made one with modern disk brakes all around too.

128645 to 129145 were the P11 Rangers, and then Mercurys all in the 129xxx range - about 500 Mercurys and 496 Rangers. A handful of Atlases were also built at this time to fill some old orders. Once the points went out to the timing cover, everything was Commando.

Yeah, I wasn't looking carefully a my number list.

124372 P11A Jan 1968
128646 P11A Ranger Sep 1968
129145 Last Ranger Nov 1968
123666 First Model Commando 750 Aug 1967
126125 First Production Machine Feb 1968
131180 Fastback Mar 1969
131257 S with Camshaft points Mar 1969

So the early numbers/models are intermixed it appears, unless someone has better info than I do, mine is from a list I found years ago on the web, but it appears valid from what I've gleaned. Isn't there a list in the info thread, or did I just see one that L.A.B posted?

Mine's 132031 marked Apr 1969 on the plate.

90 (32C) is too hot for me. I like it around 62 (17C). But we're having 50 (10C) right now but you never know what happens this time of year, it can be nice all the way into December. I've driven the Miata with the top down on the day after Thanksgiving (last week in Nov) here.

Very nice bike though. I could be jealous if I were the type.

Isn't 90 (32C) = to 62 (17C) at 90 mph?

flogged from wikipedia , first ref ive seen to ' Mk 4 ' , maybe it means Mk 3 fastback ,Commando 750 mk v . :?

September 1970 saw the introduction of the classic 'Fastback Mk2', which had alloy levers with modified stands and chain guards.

with the ‘Fastback Long Range’ with increased petrol tank capacity from July 1971.

The ‘Combat’ engine was introduced in January 1972 saw the appearance of the ‘Mk4 Fastback’

Was bitching in the press that leg burned on the original style oil tank , so the later series had a differant tank with a fibreglass sidepanel resembling the original oil tank .

The eposed tank has to cool the oil better . And for whingeing sake , P R pipes with the original Atlas style mufflers ( upswept ) would have to be the go . In Hindsight ,
had a pair of early P R thuss , with the early type kinked exit from head , which means theyre narrower across the top bend ( the pair ) resemble the std pipes , and fit closer .
You wont get a sidestand on with them though , or a sidestand lug .

Mk One .

SO , its obvious that you need the P R headers if you want the standard factory upswept dommie muffler set up . :D
