Hey Rob,
Yeah I'm aware it is only being held in there by one bolt as a mock up the tank is also sitting on terrible too
But I appreciate the heads up

Here is a simplified wiring diagram if you want to build a new, clean harness from scratch (not hard at all, one weekend's work)

Gday Paul that's a very easy diagram to follow I might have a crack at that very soon I've built a few looms fur other bikes but this one will tidy up nice
Thanks.
On a side note I've started polishing the aluminium bits with some mothers brand mag and aluminium polish. After trying half a dozen other brands I think I've found the best stuff.

welcome!,
Its great to see young blood interested in old bikes. I've been seeing a lot in my neck of the woods. (NoCalif)

That's what I thought. Started tidying things up, replacing tired connectors, adding heatshrink. 6 months later I tore the whole thing out and made my own from scratch. Looks like what you're starting with is a load better than what I inherited though!

Autosol and elbow grease for mine.

For a really great alloy polish try "MAAS".It is made in the US. If you like a really bright shine with minimal effort, it is fantastic and leaves a protective film which keeps the shine for much longer.

Hay buddy, check your email  let me know if the downloads are OK. If not, I'll post you a hard disc.

Can someone just confirm i've set the spark at the right time?
I have got both intake valves shut and thats when the tri sprk light is on and i have spark when i test the plugs. I just tried kicking it over for the first time and the plugs are wet, fresh fuel etc. I just have the feeling i've got it sparking on the wrong stroke. I'm a complete amatuer with anything with more that one cylinder. Help

Sorry, disregard my last, the damn carbies weren't tickled enough to their liking, bike is puring and wanting me to take it for a ride it would seem

Ride it down to Melbourne I'll shout you a beer after the ride.

Haha that would be easy enough to do. I rode my Norton for the first time today. I have never ever been so pumped/excited on a bike before. It was a childhood dream come true

Like others have said, it's great to see younger blokes getting involved with our old bikes, FYI I've bought a bit of stuff from Michael at Classic Road and Race in country Victoria roadnrace.com.au/ he doesn't have shopping facilities on his website but a phone call usually gets me what I want.

I also agree with Greame about micheal at road and race bendigo. I deal with him for my commando stuff and have found it to work out cheaper than RGM or Norvil. He doesnt have a online shop but if you get all the part numbers from RGM and send it to him in an email he usually gets back to you with a quote. Also a great bit of advice on installing some of the updated parts and other norton stuff, great guy.

Let me know if your ever down sydney way, go for a blatt and a beers or 2.

Regards

Ross

This wire diagram is very good and reliable, it's the same way I wired up my Norton when I first converted it to the Featherbed back in 1980 and had no problems in the 35 years, now running a Joe Hunt maggie my wiring is even simpler, I have also used this wiring on a few Triumphs and other Nortons rebuilds, you be surprised in how much wiring you can get rid of from the the original wiring harness.
