New aluminum amal premiers

Many years ago a rep. from Amal showed me a Magnesium Concentric. It was so light it almost floated away. As for the aluminium bodied Concentrics, if used with hard anodized slides AND filters they should outlast most of us. The MK2s have always used this construction.
Unless the Magnesium alloy is protected from road salt/spray , they will corrode to nothing when exposed to salt. Totally unsuitable for selling to the average joe blogs who rides 365 days of the year . . . .

Yes, the process is called Chromating, which is essential as well as cheap & simple.

16,000 miles on my Premiers and slides still look new.
Interesting. Under 2,000 miles on mine and the black coating has worn through in places. I was running without chokes and wonder if that allowed them to move and hence wear more.

Does anyone know when the new carbs are out?

Be good to know what the wait time is when you have worn carbs.
It's not even known if they will be out. One batch of 930 (30mm) does not mean that they will definitely come out with 932 Norton-specific carbs in AL at all.

Just got word that Amal does plan to produce AL Norton-specific carbs, but they do not have an estimate when that will start. Purely a guess, but I bet it's 6 months out at least. In fact, the 930s will be a while before they are generally available - they're not even taking back orders for them.
