New 961 Range Launch

Seems a bit of an afterthought to just add an anniversary decal on the pillion cover and a build number etching on the clock face. I'd have offered them in a unique color, different to the standard models. Of course Ducati made so many limited editions with nothing more than a number plate riveted to the upper triple clamp.

The Special Edition 50th Anniversary model has around UK GBP £4500.00 of extras fitted for the standard price

Short exhaust pipes
Polished Chassis pack
Domiracer carbon fibre mudguard, flyscreen and hugger
Billet bar end mirrors and brake/clutch levers
Paddock stand and bike cover
Carbon fibre number plate holder
Polished wheel rims
The sticker at the back to say its a special edition and on the clocks the number out of 50 engraved

May have missed a few things but that's about what you get

The short exhaust pipes include decat and remap at 1st service. The headlight shell and sidestand are chromed.

Are you sure that the decat is included, that means fitting the crossover pipes normally £295, great news if so.

When are you collecting yours, are you going to pick up or getting a delivery

Yes, the de cat link pipes are included with the anniversary Cafe Racer, I don’t know about the sport.

I paid for the link pipe and then Norton said they had subsequently decided to include it and refunded my dosh!

I specified #50 and asked them to hold it until March.

Can hardly wait!!

Thanks, I will bear the decat link pipes in mind on my first service. Have you had to pay for all of the bike yet. Why March, is that weather related or because of the new reg. I couldn't wait so taking asap, mind you, froze my arse off last week on my V7 blasting around Uppingham and Oundle. Cant wait to do it on the Norton but only on dry days.

I did ask for #50 or #1 but of course taken, I couldn't think of any other important number so randomly chose #32

I decided on March partly cuz of weather and partly the 18 plate, and that’s only cuz 18 is the year of the 50th. A small point, but it’s only an extra few (cold, wet, salty) weeks wait!

Yes, I paid up in full already. Will need to pay a bit more too as I’ve asked them to fit LED indicators.

Hi,
Mine is in for its service/remap and I asked for LED indicators but Clem said that his techs had recommended against it so I will be interested if yours are fitted. Are you counting down the sleeps until delivery? I also asked them to hang onto mine 'till the weather improves. Regards Clive

Yes, it’s fair to say I’m quite looking forward to delivery day!

Interesting re the indicators. Did they give any reason? Seems a strange thing to say as they’re quite a common thing to fit these days.

I got a very good price for delivery of mine: www.thebikemovers.co.uk but Mr MxMartin has had my bar end mirrors by the looks of things so I'm still waiting. Gives me time to make space in the garage though and need to invest in a good chain and lock, decided on the pragmasis 16mm which is uncroppable.

I hope I haven't taken the only set of mirrors :) When I called Norton last week Olivia said that all they were waiting on were the mirrors.... when she called me this week she said mirrors were in and bike pdi'd, she omitted to tell me they pinched them off another bike lol

I've been in my drafty old barn today making space, it's amazing how quickly you can make space when you need to!

Indeed, I have been moving things out of my garage and listing things on gumtree to make space. My wife won't let me sell the single lounge chair we got from Next about 18 years ago, she says I can sit in there and stare at my bikes. I was quite impressed and somewhat taken aback. I will do as she suggests and although the chair will gather dust, sitting there in comfort with a glass of red or can of abbott ale studying my 961 and guzzi v7 and other garage equipment is something that i look forward to. I will post some pictures of this splendid scene over the coming weeks.

I like that they went with silver Ohlins rather than gold, and am interested to see what this is:
"Norton will announce a very special offer this week around the 50th Anniversary of the Commando."

I was thinking about the 83% british content of the 961 and wondered if Norton could move to Nitron suspension to increase that significantly. I wondered if they have had meetings about it. The reviews online seem to suggest they are similar quality. I am not going to complain about my reverse ohlins road holder forks but wondered if they should be working towards the 100% british parts

If they wanted to go for Brit forks and shocks, I’d vote for K-Tech.

But, Ohlins is such a strong global brand I guess they’re difficult to substitute in some ways.

But having said that, ‘our’ bikes have Roadholder badged forks. The first step towards changing, or bringing in house??
