New 961 Range Launch

The facebook page is not available.

What was the link supposed to show?

Good grief,

The California looks like the old Norton Hi Rider from 1974.
The high handle bars don’t really suit the café style of the 961.

I do like the the two tone black cylinder barrels/aluminum engine comb. Very retro cool!

Doesn't Guzzi already have a "California"?

Auto companies used to sue each other over using even very long obsolete model names...

They do indeed But I am not sure if you can copyright a 'state'. Individual names maybe but I am sure someone on here will put me right

That looks awkward. Café style tank and rear cowl do not go with the high rise bars. Put on a roadster or Interstate style tank and a proper two up bench with a grab bar and maybe a small rear luggage rack. Go with a retro front mud guard too. Of course the ECU and fuses will have to move. Totally disjointed. rotsa ruck

Wasn’t someone asking for exactly this kind of version a few months ago on here?

It may be the member on the Classic forum who loves Norton choppers.

It was an English guy who showed us a picture of an older BMW as the kind of bike he was looking for. I think it is a marvelous looking machine and probably easier on the back and shoulders for some. I really like that red/white and blue paint job ! Now what they need to add is some bags , heated grips and a windshield . Just look at that classic chrome headlamp bucket ... Then watch the buyers come ! I like it !

Yes true . Maybe they should call it the Interstate ? Put a bigger tank on too. !

I like that they went with silver Ohlins rather than gold, and am interested to see what this is:
"Norton will announce a very special offer this week around the 50th Anniversary of the Commando."

In Fact , If I knew the kind of riding I would be doing now I would have bought the California model instead of the Sport.

“We’re going to build 50 numbered editions of each Commando model for the anniversary,” says Garner. “The Café Racer, the Sport and the California will all be pimped-out with all our polished and carbon special parts, then we’ll discount them back to the price of the standard model as a bit of a thank you for all the support that’s enabled us to have a 50th anniversary. It’s just us giving a little something back. They’re available now, on a first-come firstsserved basis, and each limited edition bike will also have its unique build number etched onto the clock face.”

Well, if someone else buys a pimped-out version for the standard price, this unfortunately doesn’t give me back a cent of my support to Norton UK...

I was hoping the special offer was a cool 50th Anniversary Mug or T Shirt for anyone with a 961. Ho-hum. Still, shouldn't grumble.

If they do the 50th Anniversary sticker as a freebee I'd stick it on my bike.

Seems a bit of an afterthought to just add an anniversary decal on the pillion cover and a build number etching on the clock face. I'd have offered them in a unique color, different to the standard models. Of course Ducati made so many limited editions with nothing more than a number plate riveted to the upper triple clamp.

Thats why I like the SE. the serial numbers were reserved to match the SE #. Very cool. Maybe the 50th anniversary edition will have a serial number matching the AE#
