Re: Namibian Norton Restoration:

Ok, end of October came and went with FA getting done. Part of the hang up was a worn out pawl spring that took a long time to get here. I need a bit of idiot help, can someone show me a picture with the battery box installed? I am struggling to figure it out.

Forks are rebuilt and on, used new tubes and old bushings and springs, the replacement bushings didn't fit and the old springs just seemed stronger.

Engine, gearbox, isolastics in, frame powder coated, tins painted, wheels re-spoked, new tires,

Chris in hot Omaruru

PS some wiseass said that you end up putting these things together 3 times before you get it right.

If only I was that @#$%ing lucky. :)

Not even huge Gov't's and Major INC's can keep projects of this scale and distance on budget and schedule no more than a farmer can predict enough rain or sun in time to harvest and make to market on set date. Its a spit in the face of fate and fortitude to forge on so I vote most improved as that should include the difficulty encountered along the way. There are a lot handier and more practical comfy ways to set up a modular Commando than its early FB dress to me and how many times will you look twice at a row of FB's nice as they can be. I also vote DogT knows how it goes, same as I and most others do, this ani't completely a mere machine but living being with its genetic guirks and a food base that don't always go by the book.

Only real technical thing to get spot on is the rod bolts Measured Stretch of .0065"
and make sure the rod seats are cleared wide enough and flat. You can use a torque wrench to do this torque to follow the micro meter guiding you to feel like following the manual to a tee.

Thanks for the Rant Hobot, but do you have a photo of a battery box installed so I can see how the F-thing fits????
