My 850 wet sumped and I had a massive oil leak. Two questions.

I bought a couple of the 1 1/16" ID X 1/16". (AS568-023) and found it to be a quite tight (stretch) fit on the shaft.

He said 1-1/8" ID. The shaft measures ~ 1-3/16" so I guess 1-1/16" is too small. My earlier thinking that the size is 026 is wrong, it should be size 024 (I think).

I like the idea. I gather that the "O" ring, being tight to the crank, rotates with the crank. If this is the case I would be concerned that spinning "O" ring would potentially destroy the crank seal. If this mod is intended for a wet primary application then my concern mellows quite a bit, but still lingers. Is this mod suitable for a belt drive primary?

Confused in Boston...

Best.

It is not an intererence fit against the crank seal. Its close but not rubbing enough to wear and damage the seal (unless you have an out of spec sprocket or excessive crank end play). I would use it on a dry belt drive or wet chain.

Check the clearance and tell me what you get. I'm seeing approx .010" to .020"

We shall soon see as I have a belt drive and have had oil migrating into the primary via either the crank oil seal or the three inner primary
mounting bolts. I had been using thread sealing compound on those bolts and a new crank seal. I will find out if this o-ring thingy
will make a difference.

Thought I would give everyone a follow up. Took the old girl out for a long ride today. When I got home and parked the bike, no oil drips on the ground! And no oil on the bottom of the bike. And I double checked to make sure there was oil in the tank!
