Thanks for posting the pics by the way! and fro all the help! Im going to take that cover off and see what the problem is. Ill post some pics wednesday or friday!

If the wire from the alternator stator is not routed carefully or if the stator is put on backwards then the primary chain can sometimes saw through the insulation on the wires. This can look like a shorted stator. It happened to me so I ty-wrapped the wire to the boss for the outer cover bolt.

My bike used to be yellow...

Actually I'm hoping for sawed wires but we won't know until he pulls it off.
