I'm not a model maker (I do prefer the 1:1 scale) but models of the bikes I have are " must have's ".
As far as I know, there are only few models made of the Norton Commando Production Racer. On e-bay, a 1:18 cheap, low quality model is for sale plenty of times but apart from that, I think only Protar made one to scale 1:9 a long time ago. The latter is quite rare but I managed to find one. So as we had a cold winter, I was the right time to build it.

Although Protar considered the Norton as one of their high quality models (probably because it had a metal frame), I must say I was often disappointed about the bad fit and some wrong details which I tried to modify as good as possible.

When I received the Protar box, I noticed that some parts were already assembled, so I had to take everything to pieces again.
The screws of old watches I never could throw away and many other modifications made it look more realistic.

Wow, that is way cool ! I always wondered if there were any models of classic bikes in large scale similar to the Poucher (?) cars, but I've never seen any. I would think there would be a real market for that. Nice job of assembly by the way. :)
 
I've got the all plastic one. I've had it forever and should repair it one of these days.
 
I didn't know the PR came with Amal GP carbs :wink: :wink:

From the technical specifications of the original leaflet:
Carburettors:
Twin Amal 1 7/32 " (32 mm.) G.P.Carburettors with either remote or concentric float chambers.

Does anyone remember the Airfix Roadster model?
Always wanted one as a kid, but they've been out of production for years.
I built the Protar 851 a few years back...not a bad experience, but not museum quality.
 
Here's my model. First picture shows the result of being hauled back and forth across the country in the last 15 yrs. Not sure what manufacturer it is.
