Meet in the garage

As nice as this thread is it stings too.. I had a large three car garage just for bikes & tools from the age of 17 to 36, then a smaller two car I shared. For the last ten or so years I had a nice two car garage / shop with a large back yard but now at the ripe old age of 53 as of next Wed I have a small covered patio that my bikes and tools live in and if I don't finish it by next winter they will come in the house with me!! The simple joy of being single allows such things I guess. The good side is I have a few friends with bike shops so I can allways do some things there but I'm going to miss having a real place of my own.

Yes, but you do have that beautiful (most of the time) Cali weather. I might be willing to swap the shop for the weather. Or maybe add onto the shop again for an indoor motocross track with fake sun :D

Snowing and 34F here. It goes on and...

I've been watching reports on the winter that never ends. We have been lucky here in the west, virtually no winter this year, just a long wet gloomy period. Most of North America has been getting hammered though. The UK is also getting hit with an extremely long cold winter/spring. Apparently this is all caused by some sort of immoveable indigestion in the form of a giant air mass over Greenland.

Is that all......So I can expect the ice to go off the lakes when...?

I promise you will warm up as soon as Greenland releases a giant fart....
There will once again be riding weather.

Must I plug my nose?

With the volume of air involved things will be very diluted, shouldn't be too bad. You might even enjoy it.

Glen,
Awesome shop. You've got one thing covered that a lot of people neglect, the white walls. It gives you light of a certain quality that you can't get no matter how many bulbs or tubes you've has going.

It's waaay too small for me and next place will be a garage with a dwelling attached rather than the other way around.

The TRX goes in the gap in the middle or out in the lean-to when I need to work in there.

Since I have not had time to get my horse back together between moving, vacation and work I can at least post to this thread:

This is what I have been doing as I can to get the garage ready to get the bike going.

Notice the cart that currently has most all of my Norton on it . The bike is in the room through the door, just got the engine stand from Matt a few weeks ago. Once I get the engine out I will probably put some hooks in the ceiling to hold the frame as I get everything cleaned and put back together.

I sold my Gladiator system and tool box and bought this tool bench, which I love. Just got the light in this weekend and attached to the deck.

Here you can see the rest of my exploded diagram posters.

The sandblaster is sold to my neighbor. He has the compressor that can actually make this thing work great and I worked a deal so I can still use it when we get it over there.

Depending on the next few months, hope to get to use all of this soon!

Hi,
I am very happy to see your Ducati Pantah 500.
I congratulate you.
Ciao.
Piero

Thanks Piero, I've had her since 1982 and we have done a lot of happy kilometres together. I took her off the road two years ago to give the old girl a bit of a cleanup. Alas the Norton's taken all my time since, but the Pantah will start getting attention soon!

Quite so. We have had prolonged very cold weather here in Northern Europe, with no immediate end in sight. I did my first race meeting of the season last weekend. Normally, it would be about 10 - 12 deg C / 50 - 53 F (still arctic for you guys in California!), but it was down to 6 deg C / 42 F yesterday, cold enough for us to be concerned about race tyres getting sufficient heat into them for grip. I was clearing ice off the car windscreen first thing before the drive down.

OK, I'm generalising here but it seems like your typical garage / workshop in North America is more roomy than on the other side of the pond. You are used to more space than we have in our cramped little islands :)
