No, not just you.
We have a John Deer 4200 tractor on our lifestyle block. Batter went flat, but would run on a jump but take no charge.
Bought a new battery.
Fired right up. But would not start next day. But would.start with a jump.
Looked at fuses, fixed unrelated electrical issues. No dice.
Started looking for ground issues by first testing continuity between battery terminal and the terminal ground clamp, which was fine.
Then tested the same on the positive terminal, and the DMM freaked out, with the readings cycling erratically.
Took off the clamps and cleaned them up with clamp brush, and all good since.
Didn't need a new battery is my guess, but havent felt like putting the DMM on it to prove my stupidity.
