Engine won't fire.

Hi all, i shorted the + terminal of the battery on the engine casing and now the engine won't fire. I sent the ecu to Stu and he confirmed all good. I replaced all relays checked all fuses all good. Replaced crank position sensor plus cam sensor, also head temp sensor. There is a spark at plugs fuel pump primes and fuel injectors are working. Engine turns over on good battery but will not start, so what can it be, has anyone made this mistake with similar result and know the cure, help!
Do you have 43 .5 psi

Noid lights got me in bother at Ford, and had me sent on a diag refresher course for my Masters 😆
I was doing an assessment, where we had a couple days of tests and tasks to complate. I had an engine test rig, "customer reports engine misfire". Instead of following the symptom based guided Ford wants to hold your hand route via etis/ids, I requested a gas analyser. Fired the engine rig up. No excess HC. Then asked for a noid light set.....they found one, I plugged it in...no pulse from injector 1....pulled the boot back and found the cut wire. Perfectly diagnosed faster than it took them to find the lights for me....but they weren't happy that I should dare to think out of their box 🙄

And yeah, ecu was fine....plugged it into my Café Racer.....fired straight up no problem, so posted it back. Wonder if it could have damaged the seperate tilt circuit though, come to think of it 🤔
Hello Stu , When the tilt circuit is activated , does it cut out ignition and fuel ?

Latest update, cleaned and re fitted original injectors as the new ones pumped in more fuel than supplied to the space shuttle launch rockets.
Question: I fitted new crank shaft position sensor and to make life easier i spliced and soldered to the wires from the connector. Will this affect the signal in anyway?
Still will not start.

Hi , I don't have a 961 , I don't think the splice will matter , I'm sure you have the colours matching , is the sensor gap OK, does your sensor rely on a small magnet or teeth going past, with one large gap , also the cam sensor as it needs that sync to know where number 1 cylinder is . When the cam sensor is dud motors won't go . Cheers .

It has a new cam sensor as well, the crank sensor was an easy replacement fit as i remember. I'm letting the cylinders dry out and changed oil as petrol had worked it's way into bottom of engine. Will crank it over again in morning and see if it fires.

As far as I can remember , the replacement crank sensor is sent without a plug . This is the only way to thread it through the seal and this will be fine to solder the wires.

Thanks, it should be good. I will resort to taking it to a local bike shop that specialize in motorcycle electrics should this not work.

So it was a runner , not been stripped down , after the arc out, you've got spark , fuel pressure ., compression . And the injectors are triggering and firing fuel ? It should be running ! And it's got good petrol , no water . . Will it fire on starting spray ! You said the ecu was checked , but can you hook up a borrowed one ?

A upside down tilt sensor, the engine cranks but will not start and the fault is for a camshaft position sensor. This happened on my 2013 CR 961 commando. I had the seat bump off and didn’t pay attention on reinstalling the tilt sensor, it was upside down. FYI
When a 961 can be scanned with a diagnostic tool. If an engine turns over but won’t start, check (record) and clear the faults. Cycle the ignition, run the starter for 5 seconds and leave the ignition on and scan, if any faults come up on the diagnostic tool it should be related to not start. Faulty cam sensor or crank sensor will cause a no start, with engine turns over.

But he is saying he has spark and fuel? even low fuel pressure will cough, bang something. So something isn't adding up

Hi all, had to drop the oil as cranked it too many times and fuel drenched crankcase. Going to take a look at the cps again make sure i fitted it correctly.
As i said earlier i replaced cps and cam ps. After this 'no joy' I'm taking it to local bike garage that specialize in bike electrics, bet it's the first 961 they have had, just hope they don't shy away from it.
