Apart from the obvious tank, what parts were different from the standard roadster and are they all available? Which are hardest/most expensive to find?

I have a black '71 roadster project that I am thinking of making into a red 750ss.
Might sound crazy but I have not been able to find a red 750ss to buy.

As soon as you have all the parts one will come up (cheap) for sale.
Do they have the smaller headlight with Halo ?

I had a wee hankering for a homemade SS. Think the side panels look the same.

Changed my mind at the moment but you never know.

There was a fully restored one of those on eBay here last year, that has to have been one of NVT's 'what were they thinking moments.

It's a bit copycat but I think it's got a good look to it.Front frame engine guard also.

Received this note today:

The S/S low numbers had a 21" front wheel and the later ones had a 19" The things that are different are:

Front wheel
front fender and bracket
tank early ones had p15 or ranger tanks(metal)
Seat
Skid pan
Pipes
Handle bars
rear tail light Metal not fibreglass
Front head light small
They had no side stand only a centre stand with a additional small plate welded to the front or bottom side to prevent debris from catching
They came in Yellow,Orange,Blue. No RED

Well, whilst I wouldn't dispute that, photos of SS models on Google images shows a side stand, including the 750 SS in the '71 brochure which one would assume to be an "early" example? :?

I can supply you fibreglass replica skin plate in black gelcoat if required.
Weighs very little, interfers with nothing,1 minute to remove.
The orginal one is very thick, weighs a ton,not sure what they were trying to protect .

I use one on my own bike to protect the front of the motor/frame plus keep the crap out of the front iso mount.

I have never heard about the 21-inch wheel, nor is there a part number available. The tanks certainly were not P11 (Matchless) tanks as those will not fit a Commando frame. All were fiberglass Hi-Rider style. The seat had a very narrowed front (almost pointed). The taillight was the same as the other Commandos. To the best of my knowledge these models were only supplied in yellow or tangerine (not red or blue) , both with black side covers. The mufflers, unlike those on the 'S' model were shared with the standard Roadster. The muffler mounting brackets were unique to the model. The front fender mount bolts to the underside of the triple tree, with the fender bolting to the mount with rubber muffler mounts.

They have to be clickable ?

Well, I'm "here" and they don't need to be "clickable"? But then you're not here, you are over there.

Well I see it (see the thumbnail screen capture in my previous post)
I don't know why you can't?

Don't know then.
I noticed years ago that NOC images won't display in forums,
but will individually...

What do other folks see ?

I see a Commando with tangerine tank and black side covers...bigger than the screen shot L.A.B. posted.

Just Norton Villiers in 1971. Triumph didn't get rolled in until 1975. I saw a new SS at Bill's Cycles in San Bernadino it 1973 with a price tag $1200. Two years old and still wasn't selling. Next to it was a JPN with $2495 price.
