Foxy...problem is the nuts can end up tightened with the engraving up-side-down?

Gday John, mmmmm....., yes thats right but I dont see that as being a huge problem. After all, tyre brands etc go round and round too! Also those nuts supplied, are they long enough for clock holders aswell? Regards Foxy
 
...i dont think the "loss" of travel would matter,,but having only 10mm of thread.......? again once the stanchions are seated and clamped they would not fall out :!:

The Lansdowne top nut threads are (more-or-less?) the same length as the originals, so there's no problem mounting the clock holders.

Lansdowne Fork Damper Kit (2009)


Personally, I think it would be a better idea if the letters ('C' and 'R' which identify each compression & rebound damper) were to be stamped on the inner adjusters rather than on the faces of the nuts?
As it is, when the nuts are tightened, the letters end up in random positions (unless the stanchions are turned to line them up?) but with the letters stamped on the adjusters themselves it would also help to add a visual reference to the damper settings?

Maybe some owners would prefer that?

Personally, I think I'd rather keep the natural finish, so the nuts can be polished.

Mentioned nut polishing to the wife last night.....she was not amused...stateing a man with well kept tackle should always keep a well polished pair.......what the hell is she on about :oops: :?:
 
Got my units today. Beautiful stuff!
My question is, where do the o-rings go? The size is .625 od (5/8), .4375 id (7/16), .0938 (3/32) cross section. I can only to assume that they go on the bottom of the damper to seal at the base. They fit nice and snug there and do not believe they would fall off during insertion into the fork tube. Can someone please concur or enlighten?

Yes Just spares'....i went to collect my 50...the shop owner, getting on with stock taking...give my a bag of 1000! and said " Dont sell many, so have the lot for £3!" wow!!!!!

Yes, although it came separately, but I think John sends one with every kit, now.

Thats right L.A.B...and the T140 kits are finnished,Installed in a racing rocket three,Awaiting reports..and mallory this friday is the first test...fingers crossed..J.B
 
Gday John, whats the best way too seal the the bottom of the stanchions, a smear of Stag or Yamabond on the screw maybe?
I still think "LANSDOWNE" stamped or engraved would be a nice finishing touch to the nuts. Dont like the idea of anodising, leave that to the modern bikes. Rgds Foxy
 
Hmmm,. this is very tempting. I think I'd like to try this kit on my Manx. If Duncan likes it...

Foxy ...A 1/4 B.S.P dowty seal sits nicely in the slider counterbore, Avoid thread sealant,,,could prove tricky removing the damper,,[the whole cartridge turning] Nortons fibre washer is OK...as been for fifty years!

Steve, My New Manx damper [undergoing] as Rebound and Compression in EACH SIDE..Full control ,,Basicly the Compression is set via a oil gauge in each side..then the rebound, This Balance's the entire front end..and quick to adjust from the top nuts. ,Regards John Lansdowne

Foxy...Its only so you can ride around with the Best Polished NUTs in Ausse!...Now if that ain't showing off! ...and i think to dowty seal [1/4 B.S.P] is the best option...

.Sorry i did not send you a 1/4 dowty seal...better than the original fibre...Just watch the O.D..some are slightly larger,,and will not sit in the bottom recess.....John,Lansdowne Eng
