Me thinks you’ll be making something VERY nice out of that Baz !

I gotta say… I think I’d be removing that oriental front end personally.

Given the extra weight and power the OIF will be handling, I’d consider modifying the swinging arm as Degans did for me. He cut the SA pivot out of the frame spine and scalloped it. Then made a new SA pivot tube with taper rollers in it that simply mounted at both ends in a traditional manner. Thus permanently eliminating the risk of cracks, and subsequent oil loss, from that area of the frame.

I'm not real familiar with these.
It's a bsa rocket 3 engine in an oil in frame
It's got a long range commando tank and a Honda CB 750 front end
It has a fabricated top yoke and Japanese clocks
Unfortunately the owner had died so I don't know much more about it
I'm guessing it hasn't run for at least ten years
It's still on points ignition,I put a battery on and all three plugs are sparking
Tank has about two pints of putrid smelling petrol
The petrol taps are seized etc

Fit an oil pressure guage (if it's runs)
The front end won't be staying I've had a couple of CB 750s and those brakes are appalling
I plan to gusset the swinging arm pivot
And move the oil filler cap to the headstock
A 5 speed box ,(I bought what I believe to be a t150v box whilst I was there )
Possible things for the future would be an electric start and a carb job

Pulled the carbs today
Glad I did there's a lot of sediment in the bottom of the float bowls
Rodded the pilot jet bushes and gave them a bath

I pulled the exhaust this evening so I could drop the sump plate
Looks like a genuine rob north system to me 🤣🤣🤣🤣

...and your shed ends up smelling like the gents loo at the railway station in 1955....:)
I would have recommended stumping up for a set of Premiers until I saw the recent price.
 
Mixed 50/50 with water, soak completely submerged for 24 to 48 hours.
Cleans away corrosion like solvent can not.
Carbs are back on the bike at the moment
I gave them a good clear out then I ultrasonic cleaned them in a mixture of white vinegar and diluted washing up liquid
Only one pilot jet bush was clogged
The carbs really are worn but they'll be ok to fire it
 
I've removed the sump plates from the motor and the frame and left it to drain
Is like to get all of the old putrid black oil out
There's black sludge in the engine sump plate but no debris on the gauze filter
Looking at the exhaust valves number one and two looked good
But number 3 was black and oily
