I know this sounds like blaspemy to the admirers of the Great SG & SS, but naturally did not only both know that parts were robbed from motorcycles that were in for service, they both instigated it.
And this is not a recent practise- it has been going on for years. I know of one customer whose cylinder head "disappeared" in service years ago to finish a "new" motorcycle.
Sounds familiar- when we were approached to buy a Norton shop years ago that supposedly built (and, according to a recent article in Classic Bike, supposedly still builds) "new Commandos", one member of the owner's family whined about the increasing difficulty to find "donor bikes"..... That family later became VERY friendly with SG, and he then tried to broker their shop to me on their behalf yet again.
