Sure interesting, someone used same approach for driving an Aisin compressor. Nicer to the eye than from the crankshaft, me thinks.

and pretty sure ran ignition off the end of the cam

Fuel + brush type alternator = fire. A friend has a Redline/Triumph with just such a canversion which used to be beautiful..........
