I love to buy all these goodies but being a low income earner all my life with family and now retired on a self funded pension, I have owned my Norton and done major improvements all the 46 years of ownership, scrump and saved as I went, lucky my Norton has always been reliable all its life, but I did most of the major hotting up back in the 80s as well the conversion to the Featherbed frame, still using the original valves in the ported and shaved head and spent money on upgrades when things were cheaper as I went along, I have built it my way but have upgraded the brakes, ignition, frontend and of course motor upgrades, everything else works great as it is, I got to use what I have these days, just living life is hard enough money wise, so to a lot of us poor buggers spending lots and lots of money on new heads, E starters, new barrels etc etc is just a pipe dream for me and a lot of others, as I say I got to use what I have and if anything breaks I have to fix it as cheap as I can and working at a TEC college for 31 years I had the machines and people to help with the work that was needed to do my Hotrod Norton, no labour cost to me, these days I just hope it keeps going as it has always, I have my 1200 Thruxton for every day use now and hopefully both bikes will see me out.
