How do you keep batteries from stranding you?

I've kept a Battery Tender on my Commando over the winter the past two years, storing it in this god forsaken winter weather. No issues. Pull the fuse and stare at the green light.

32C, that's 90F, too hot for me, especially at 7am. When it gets that hot here the humidity is the same as the F temp and riding is like going through soup. I should have moved to a more temperate climate long ago, but I'm here where we have a few days in the spring and a few in the fall, but it's supposed to be 70F/21C Sunday. We'll see, but it will probably be close to freezing during the night and it takes a bit to warm up that much during the day. That said, I did ride around today with the top down in the Miata and it was only in the low 50'sF/10C. But it has a heater with a fan/blower and windows. What I don't like is in the winter the sun is always in your eyes.
