I'm getting back to the never ending project before another season comes and goes...I finally picked up the Maney oil junction block. It's hard to imagine using the stock part after you see them next to each other. A quick question... The gasket stuck to the mating surface on the timing case even though the old block wasn't really tightened down. Should I replace it, and if so, does it need any kind of sealant too?

I would always change a gasket, if its cleaned properly, with no damage to the surface it will probably be on without sealant but I always use a smear of Hylomorphism blue. it should never leak.

A light smear on both sides of the gasket with Yamamahabond #4 ('cuz that's what I had at the time) and no leaky in over 3 thou miles.

I do not think you want to "Really" tighten this bolt down.
•Oil junction block bolt (1 bolt, 03-0448) 8 ft lb. (96 inch lb.)

I just meant that it wasn't tightened completely but I take your point.

I tried to install this simple little Maney oil junction block only to run into problems. Go figure... Fortunately I ordered two gaskets as I failed to do a dry run. When I place it on the locating dowel the bolt doesn't properly line up with the hole. If I hold the junction block off a bit and thread the bolt a few turns then it won't slip over the locating dowel.?! It seems like I need to relieve the bottom of the dowel a bit and/or the bottom of the oil supply/return hole. The AN junction block didn't have this problem, maybe looser tolerances... Hope this makes sense. Any suggestions appreciated as always.

Shame it doesn't fit eaxctly, kinda common with these British bikes. Always seem to have to do some extra filing, grinding, or drilling for parts to fit properly.

I would just drill the mounting hole a little larger.

+ 1 on relieving junction block holes, I wouldn't touch the dowel. Do you have any machinist blue or something similar to transfer the oil supply /return holes location onto the junction block after you open up the dowel pin hole and get it to mate flush with the engine case.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I don't have any machinist blue, machinist tools, or machinist skills, lol. I'm leaning towards slightly enlarging the bottom hole with my roto zip and the appropriate bit. It doesn't need much.

A little time and a small victory...

Now I just need to install longer supply and return hoses.

Got that done too...
