Just curious, in the Hogslayer engine detail image above, there are brass tags attached near the serial number block on the engine cases. What significance, if any, do the tags have? Do they suggest a particular year range or motorcycle model that the cases were used on or what? Thanks for any insight you might be able to offer.

The red patent number badge was on dommies and Atlas's for quite some years in the 1950s and 1960s.
RGM says from 1957.
Never applied to Commandos though....

The red paint wore off after a while, especially if polished. and they reverted back to brass

Hogslayer details anyone?

My words may not have been entirely clear.
Once the red paint wore off, the brass underneath became more and more visable.

I recently found some old negatives in a drawer, they are from a trip to a dragstrip in the south of Sweden, sometime 1975 or -76. The conditions on my behalf wasn´t the best, an old camera and long distance to the bikes, so the pics are what they are :( . The bike on the strip could possibly be the Pegasus? It is obviously a compressor or two, and the Pegasus had those I believe? The other bike with 3 engines in it is too bad for me to recognize, must be some jap engines?

PS - the red bungie cord in the vicinity of a traditional battery box is a nice touch. Wonder what it was securing?

Dommie or Atlas botton end, remember they were running this bike before Commandos came out, 1964 I think they started racing, I have to watch the DVD again been some time ago I watched it.

Ashley

They might have been running Atlas bottom ends for the mag drives. No less fragile than the early Commando cases.

Watched it yesterday. It was OK but not great. Bought it on a download from the Choppertown site.
Dont know if Sunset is still in business. Im not far from Kenosha so may in the spring on a nice day I will take a ride up there.
Worth the 10 bucks I guess.
That was a killer bike in the day.
Thought they were sitting in front of it during the interviews but it was a 3 engine beast they were working on.
