Harrier !

I think the Vulcan, in vertical climb, was louder.
I never heard the Vulcan but I did some filming for NASA during the shuttle program.
When they lit that beast of a Saturn V Rocket it would cause the ground to shake and we were a quarter of a mile away in the technicians bunker! The real, (and only) reason the Harrier was louder than the Saturn V was because I was a lot closer and not wearing any hearing protection during the Harrier maneuvers.
 
How about the day when an F4 came down right over Central Area at the US military academy and then pulled straight back up full power and
then lit off the afterburners....SOMEBODY must have caught discipline for
that! What a moment though. Inter service rivalry and all that.
