Hello Access...........

I'm looking for a simple yet good quality ignition switch for my 73 Commando..........Not interested in stock
Intention is to mount it similar to where the original was. My eyes are on something like this;
Thanks again!

I watched one of those fall apart on a friend's Beezer last summer. Low grade junk.

If that switch is what you are looking for, I would get a genuine one from a Harley-Davidson dealer.The price will probably shock you but it would be well made.Why are you not wanting a stock switch?

The original does fail but can also be rebuilt better than any modern non-oem knock off including those in whatever colour box Lucas is in now.

Yep - my cNw switch (like this) failed but the problem was the pin through the side holding the whole thing together worked loose.
On the replacement I removed the pin and re-inserted with loctite and put heat-shrink over that area.
I don't expect another "occurrence"!
Cheers

Hidden toggle switch for me and a toggle switch on the head light shell for my lights, been like that for over 44 years, keys won't stop thieves, I just don't leave my bike anywhere where I can't see it, toggle switches are cheap and very rarely fail.

In response to your question; "why are you not wanting a stock switch?" The original harness was incomplete and beyond salvageable. Having owned British bikes in the early 70's left me with a bitter taste for anything Lucas. Not being authenticity obsessed, I contacted Matt @ cNw who built a custom electrical harness. What I received is beyond exceptional.

Attending the Grant Tiller and Access Norton school of master switches (thank you) leaves me comfortable with a 2 position Lucas switch. It's the only option considering my harness and goal of simplicity.
Thanks all!
